Where does one find a truly safe haven?
The most naive of young pioneers might believe in one of the numerous promised lands said to reside in the High Wilderness, be it a poet's utopia, a hermit's cottage on the reach or the wide blue skies of higher powers that be. But of course, no seasoned sailor of the sky would succumb to such tall tales. Indeed, those weary of travel on their search for such promises might come to regard any warm hearth as their kind of safe haven. In a more innocent world, that may well be true, were not for the intrigue and feuds permeating every circle of society in this day and age. But as it stands, any traveler must soon learn to detect the more subtle dangers lurking in light and warm places where not everyone is a friend.
And so, it distinguishes the true veterans of the skies, that they won't forever continue their search for safe havens. Because they will have learned to appreciate the only safe place there is: The trusty, chugging boiler of their very own engine.
