Description Far from the expanse of Federation Spaces lies the Klingon Subsector chan Ran'Ur, part of the greater Ran'Ur Constellations, marking the distant imperial frontier. Encompassing thirty notable systems, and nearly a hundred lesser ones, this region is considered the furthest heartland of the Klingon Empire and a bastion against the unknown.

This subsector is the chosen domain of the Great House of Umas with its seat on the holy world of Mon'Aniv Ran'Ur. The settlement of this planet dates back to the twenty-first century when it was an enclave of the crimson order, deep in uncharted space. To this day, the temple halls of the shamans are the final point of an infamous pilgrimage through the plasma storms of the Jevamak Wastes.

Close to Great Houses' estates lies also the Shroud of the Oneiri, their worlds engulfed in psychic fire. The subjugation of these elusive telepaths earned the famed Warlord Umas and his clan their place on the High Council.
Even in their defeat, the Oneiri remain mysterious, far removed subjects of the Empire. Secrecy surrounds their dealings with the Klingon rulers, and other houses do not look kindly on Umas' custom to take the advice of their old soothsayers.

Spinward from the holy world Mon'Aniv lie the systems of the Soldier Dynasty of Raga, which swore allegiance to the Great House of Umas nearly two centuries ago. Since this time, Ragas soldiers and fleets stood unwavering in the defense of the sector and the Empire at large, and the old bond is renewed every year with great festivities on the hunting grounds of K'Tar.

Outward, past the Jevamak Wastes, the systems are held by the zealous Warrior Priests of Gorash, age-old rivals to the House of Raga and at times, deadly enemies on the fields of battle. They sought to claim Mon'Aniv as their own in the past, and ruins of great battles fought on the border between their domains and those of the Great House Umas remain to this day.

But the old feuds have been laid aside, ever since the fourth and final house of chan Ran'Ur has fallen. The traitors have lost their name when they broke with the High Council and aligned with the insurgency coming from the rim. Now they are at war with the Empire, and the three remaining houses of chan Ran'Ur stand united, as loyalists, against them.

All the while, the unknown lingers on the trailing frontier of known space, beyond the heavy bulwarks of the Klingon Empire's outer border. Vigilant watchmen stand guard over the frontier. Recently, their once so rare reports have become more frequent, and tell stories of strange phenomena. Something stirs in the dark, moving ever closer to chan Ran'Ur.
