Description These precision instruments of deadly force are said to stem from a long and obscure line of Martian war machines. Originally, they were conceived to eradicate an invasive, parasitic xenos threat which had festered in remote settlements of the Red Planet. For this purpose, they were blessed by the Omnissiah with an all-seeing eye which could detect alteration, corruption and weakness to the human flesh.
The repugnant alien parasite has long since vanished from the galaxy, cleansed by the thorough Tres Tripodes machines. Their ability to see through flesh, however, remains invaluable to this day in detecting the influence of chaos, xenos and heresy on the human populous, long before the symptoms become apparent.

*** Role ***
On the open battlefield, these Tripods are used for precision strikes in the midst of waring infantry formations. Their long and narrow legs allow them to stalk amid the Skitarii without disrupting their precision lines.

On the Forge World Cambria, the tripods are ever present in the hives and manufactorum districts, watching over the working flesh and picking off the corrupted and weak.

That looks really cool. Is there a base/template available?

My main inspiration for this design was the Defiler from the video game "Universe at War", which itself is based on War of the Worlds, I believe.

The only thing that can be an issue to the performance of the tripod. That being how thin the legs are, and how fragile they would relatively be if hit.

It is kind of a trade-off: Because they're so thin, these legs are relatively fragile, yes. But they are also much harder to hit than bulkier ones.

Of course, you are right to say these legs are still a disadvantage compared to other armored units - but the point of the Tripod on the battlefield would get to places where it is not suspected: The middle of infantry formations, where it is much less likely to encounter any enemies equipped to deal with it on short notice.

Very cool nod to Tripod cult.
One i issue i see: These guys clearly stick from a Skitarii formation and since their main body is exposed, there are really easy targets. I would give these guys extra-long ranged weapons, so this innate disadvantage can be kind of neutered.

Long-ranged weapons are certainly part of their equipment. Plus, they can probably lower themselves into a more spider-like stance, in which they wouldn#t stand any higher than Kastelan robot formations. But at the end of the day, they're really not very tanky - sort of a glass dagger type of unit!

Hello, new-years scratch building project, that is on top of all the conversion ideas this series is giving me.
I'm thinking either twin-linked Phosphor Blasters or Cognis Heavy Stubbers.
The central Triple barreled weapon could either be an Auto-Canon or Las-Canon based system possibly upgrading to a Volkite weapon.
The all-seeing eye sensor mitigates cover saves, mess's with infiltration & hidden set-up mechanics and allowing for precision targeting.
And the whole thing can freely move through friendly Infantry units and easily traverse Difficult Terrain.

I see, the stat sheet is already coming along! I'd be very interested to see how a unit like this could be balanced.

From a lore perspective, I always try to keep these custom units within the realm of sensibility - I don't want to put some overpowered superweapons into the setting after all.
