Description Done ... i think, so best to stop now. Talons and legs look a little lame but it's all practice Pencil on A4 smooth Bristol
The eagle was referenced from an old book i have. The background was inspired by a google image .. i just thought they looked great together.

20hrs!! i wish more like 30 to 40. I'm still learning about feathers and it was a lot of hard work and not much fun. I must have put it down many times. It was nearly a year before i was ready to try to draw another
I use a Epson stylus photo rx620 scanner, a few years old now. I take the tone down by about 50% when i scan and then upload to corel painter and re adjust the values to get it as close to the drawing as i can. If i'm lucky the darks don't pop out that much and it looks more reasonable, if it still looks bad i'll take a photo instead

I love all of the detail put into the feathers. That must have bee very painstaking I would imagine... Also like the bit of detail put into the mountains and trees in the background. It looks as if the eagle is surveying his vast territory.

I can't thank you enough for the great advice. How long have you been drawing to make drawings like that? And I suppose you're right, I still have many years ahead of me to improve my drawings, and I'll take your advice to try to get as good as you.
