The F4's older brother, yeah, all of the Navy fighters of the era had engine problems. If they weren't under powered, puffing out,or blowing up,they even got to shoot themselves out of the skies with their own missiles. In one sense,it was the good old days of Naval aviation. The Navy learned much from those trial and error times. I wonder if you're aware of the Navy's first variable geometry wing fighter Jaguar,it had engine power problems too. When I saw a picture of that plane,I thought it was too bad ,they couldn't solve it's problems.

Yes I am aware of the Jaguar. I was actually planning to do a scene featuring that aircraft but it has been placed on the back burner for now.

Incredible detail! I was glad to read your comments since I didn't know very much about the F3H and I don't recall building a model of it. I used to build model airplanes and thought I had built almost all the fighters but obviously there were some I missed.

Never heard of that plane before. It sure didn't look familiar.
You could teach a class on this stuff. How much would it cost to sign up? I'm the guy my friends depend on to know about jets, but I know I'm lacking pretty bad, lol.

Thank you for this splendidly drawn, and well-captioned, look at a valiant if forgotten aircraft and its pilots.

Thank you very much. I agree the aircraft of this period were very colorful and make for some interesting subjects. There were plenty of old designs that took a long time in gestation too. I think the Demon was 7 years from first being developed to entering service.
