It was drawn because I've heard about this awful event - [link]And I just was scared when I heard this news. This is so terrible, I just want to kill this brainless person who did this. I'm mad at him. I even don't want to speak his name with my mouth. I just want him paid for all he have done. To pay hard. I'm too mad and angry about this. So I'd better stop.

To be fair,terrified people especially children might not be ready to see a six foot tall Bat walking around a hospital.
Besides,Bale doesn't own the bat costume.
It was sweet for him to show up as himself and it meant way more. Anyone can wear the costume but Bale showed up. Great gesture.
