Woot! Reunited and it feels soooo good~~~Now that round 1 #SMOCT is over (you can read me and *kennasaur 's comic here! *shameless plug*) Imma chip into some of the prize art I owe for my WDW senshi contest.
This is one of many, many requests for *setsu-p , the winner of the WDW senshi contest. If you didn't see her entry, go see it now! This is her fan senshi, Sailor Dis, and was my main motivation for finishing SMOCT because her design is so frickin' pretty I had to draw it.
As I did with my SMOCT entry, I used the digital airbrush instead of the digital watercolors. What does everyone think? Is there really a difference?

LOL Well, I guess that answers that! Maybe I'll use airbrushes from now on. See, corel painter's digital waterbrushes has an issue with transparency - if you add a background, you have to go underneath the watercolor portion with white or the colors beneath it bleeds through. Airbrushes don't have that problem, so I can add better backgrounds. C:

She is gorgeous! She looks like the mad lovechild of a senshi and an Utena duelist with those epaulets and all that gold trim. I love the muted colors and her calm expression.

I was totally thinking the same thing! And somehow, Goddess Urd got thrown into the orgy too, and together they produced the hottest lovechild ever.

You know, that is a very Urd-esque color scheme. Except she looks a lot less, er, mental than Urd.

Yes! The use of epaulettes (the shoulder things) are what does it, I think - it's such an ingenius use of them, too. I had never seen someone use those in a fuku before. It seems like one of those strange but appropriate choices Takeuchi would use in a design. (And thank you! I just earned a super form for helping organize SMOCT so this means one thing -- 1410 gets moar battle armor!!! I just hope I survive long enough to use it.)
Yes! I am drawing your chibi right now - Cuirve will come later this week. I think I can do all of the smaller requests in a single day so I can focus solely on the big pieces I owe people. That, and I may be researching BDSM gear for it, and google image search may or may not be showing things I cannot unsee. >>

Epaulettes remains one of my favorite words (right next to bandoleer, I think) even if its etymology is terribly boring. It does make sense as something that would fit in the Takeuchi style, goodness knows how it gets stretched with the later senshi. Oooh! I'm really looking forward to this bonus armor.
Hooray! I can't wait to see senshi!me. As for the BDSM thing, you might try looking up Sorcerer Hunters/Bakuretsu Hunters. The main character wears BDSM gear when in battle mode and it's actually cute/funny rather than eye-searing. [link] [link] [link]

It sounds so elegant, you know? Then again anything ending in the -ette suffix sounds really elegant to me. French = elegant. And LOL, you're right! She seems to run out of variants right in the last arc so she just starts sticking collars on everything. XD Not that that's a bad thing, just ... funny to think about.
(As for the battle armor, I might have sketches up of potential ideas tonight or tomorrow... because I can't decide what to do. >>)

LOL You're right, poubelle is actually strangely pretty. O.o And you're right - having the alternate designs earlier than, say, the last arc would have been more organic. Or if she had stuck with the designs for TV.
Tell me about it! I regularly look at 3wishes lingerie for inspiration and it's either ... really really cute lingerie and sexy costumes or OH GOD, STOP IT, STOP IT NOW XD

Oh, one more question -- did I get her eyecolor right? I looked at like 234234 refs and then did a devart search for Dis and it seemed like they all had a different eyecolor. I'll be glad to change it if it's off, because I really honestly did not know which was the most recent eye color.

She's related to Pluto, so her eyes are roughly the same color..just faded looking I guess. People keep using brown for some reason instead of pale red XD
(my scanner likes to eat it and make it like...hot pink for some reason)

Cool!!! I did it, I did it, I did it YEAH! I chose kind of a ruddy/golden red, similar to Pluto's eyecolor. I actually did thing of her while I was drawing Dis, since they have a similar ... mojo, I guess?

They sorta do in a way. Dis just...isn't beholden to Serenity like Pluto is and is actually not that friendly in general

Makes sense! I was thinking of similar sex appeal and mystery - the white hair/dark skin combo, the gold accents -- they're both sophisticated, sexy, but they could also kick your ass in a heartbeat and probably not feel bad about it.

That's about right! She is something of a kicker of the asses. Usually only in the line of duty or self-defense, though. She doesn't have a vengeful streak for the most part.
