You know what spawned the idea? Well my daughter was born 3 months premature and while I was in the hospital (they did C-section) the nurses handed me this HUGE book on all the lovely things that could ever go wrong with preemies, including one or two deaths! So I used that in a way. Some people are just blind to how others feel and don't think about how what they say affects others.

Oh that was nice of them! Wow - you know, to sit someone down and carefully prepare them for the fact that something *may* go wrong is one thing...to just hand you a book is quite another!!
I haven't had kids yet - but I know that my father was the absolute worst in the delivery room - he fainted dead away every time (there are four of us - you'd think he would have learnt!). It would have taken him only until the first frame of your cartoon before he'd be surrounded by nurses patting his hand and offering cups of tea. Mum got used to the lack of attention eventually - poor thing!

Basically, Luce spends hours in St Mungo's maternity waiting room listening to a guy telling pregnancy horror stories until his stiff composure finally gives in a huge burst of magic. So much it propels him through the ceiling. He winds up in a hospital bed next to Cissy and baby Draco, humiliated, while Cissy makes fun of him.

What's funny is the 'losing it' drawing was less trouble than the 'stiff upper lip' ones! I think it's because to get that rigid posture I had to really watch my lines, make sure I had good symmetry and so on--no goofy stuff. That and figuring out how to draw a convincing ermine collar for his coat!
