Great photo journalistic shot, my my your really lucky to get this shot, somehow the blurred passerby really compliments the picture in giving it live motion.

Could imagine it! Haha did you shoot with a fast FPS or something, if not standing there and shooting them they would have given you weird stares lol

FPS? shutter speed you mean? it's 1/80, so yeah quite fast. i was in the car btw, so i was less obvious to them

Oh oh no umm i meant FPS = frames per second Like okay I'm honestly quite shy with doing people photography thats why I hate doing PR photography for my old school >.< But say when I was overseas what I did was I set my camera to 6 FPS and I just shot people from afar with a telephoto lol so they wont know im taking them. But at the sam time 6 FPS allows me to get 6 pictures with in a second so yeah. But 1/80 is a good speed though, its fast but its not fast enough to capture stuff like bikes zooming pass so it gives that nice blur effect!

i've never use the fps thing before. yeah i know what you mean abt shooting people. in my case, i'm more afraid that they are not happy abt it and start throwing things at me rather than being shy. but tele lens help a lot definitely. when i was using my kit lens only, all i have to do was to move fast...but most of the time, not fast enough so have to quickly go after snapping

haha maybe over seas thats a concern when foreign objects are thrown at ya, but I dont think Singaporeans are THAT bad, although I feel sometimes the stare they give is just as bad like I commited a crime D= But theres one thing I hate is that I cant take pictures anywhere in town. For EG I was usingmy camera to take a pic of my friends at plaza sing, it so happens the back ground was The Atrium (white building next to plaza sing) a guard came up to us and said no taking of pics, he then goes on to say the white building we're taking the pic agaisnt belongs to Temasek Holdings so he said due to security concerns no pictures..............................................................Mind you it was just a standard "oh lets take a group pic for our outing" lol

it happened to me before...in bus interchange. yeah no photography allowed there. not sure abt mrt though.

the atrium? i have no idea which one is that! so did he get you to delete the pictures? happened to my colleague at a place of which i can't remember where and the guard made him delete the pics.

Haha well now I know abouit bus interchanges but yeah I got asked to keep my DSLR once in aljunide mrt station. (Eh spelling might be wrong lol)

Eh Its the white building next to plaza sing lol its so huge! Not the istana I mean, its like right above the purple MRT line lol. Nope he didn't eh but thats like not right. A guard or any one, I remember reading on 1 news paper article that a person has no right to ask a photographer to delete the picture he or she has taken. There was this case about a girl who felt her privacy being violated and she asked the guy with the point and shoot who took her picture to delete the pic but his lawyer said the law says the woman has no right to ask him to delete. Not that it was anything lewd or anything, that would have been a different picture. Sorry to hear about your friend tho, my female photographer friends do get away with alot Basket! Everytime I'm the one who gets asked to not take pics while they go on their way doing it lol.

really? they get away a lot? haha were they like wearing short pants or skirts or sth? i didn't know abt that, that they don't have the right to ask you to delete the photo. thanks for the info...so if i ever get into such situation i know what to tell'em!

lol they do get away with it and the female photographers I know dont dress like that too unpracticle when shooting. Its always comfortable jeans and a shirt or something lol. They got to shoot people leh not be shot by other photographers haha. Well yeah so you can tell em off next time! If not add some charm and flirt and the guys will most probably let you off the hook haha. Thankfully I haven't encountered anything like that cept for that security guard thing at dhoby ghaut. Usually I try to stand really far away with a 80-200 to do the shots of people lol. Now I sound like a stalker but then again using telephoto is the new thing for model/people photographer, its been said to make the models feathers look more broad and less rounder.

Interesting in that not one of them seemed to have noticed the bicyclist speeding by.

MargarethHS In reply to Trippy4U [2009-07-01 13:47:50 +0000 UTC]

it's either a) there are just way too many bikes in jakarta that they just can't be bothered with the one that passed by, or b) they're too tired...well i would if i were them, having to 'sing' by the side of the car every time the green light turns red.
