I don't know if you like theriathropes, werewolves and things other things like these ones or yokai.
But I have recently made a series of 3 sketch pictures in which Shinichi is transforming into a yokai Kitsune (fox spirit / werefox). actually person transforming into another/something they're not meant to be is a really big no-no to me. Doing Ran in tsp is a bit iffy but I play it away with it being a natural thing.
I just really don't like that kind of stuff, sorry.

Sorry if you don't like that stuff. I personaly find it very interesting mostly because of my tend to go spiritual and esoterical ways since I was 16 (with some interuptions at some times).
But calm down if my story ever comes at exisitence it will not be only made of this there will be also other things that will be more likely to you (maybe but I don't know).
I planned it to be more a thing like turning out of the true self because by Shinichi it was meant to be this way (in my story: Originaly Shinichi was born as a hanyou (well I got the idea by watching some Inuyasha episodes) but because of the struggle between Yusaku and the father of Shinichi's real mother (yes in my story Yukiko isn't Shinichis mother). Yusaku was some kind of affraid and wanted to keep his son away from everything that is magical and ironicaly this was made by using magic and the consequence of it was that Shinichi was human for more then 20 years and his yokai side was banished into the deep deepest parts of his subconscious (yes psychology is one of the other things that I realy like).
At the beginning of my story there is a magical incident (what it is exactly will remain a surprise) and Shinichis yokai side comes free in the form of this werewolf like transformations.
But I am clearly sure that I will integrate some of these inner peace things in my story and after that his transformation will be more like the one of Ran in your tsp story.
Shinichi has also the ability to transform into a normal feral fox (which I think will be the more cutter part of my Shinichi transformation thing) and this will be more like the transformation of Ran in your tsp story.
The whitches in my story will also transform into animals in that way but why they do that will remain a surprise.
