Haha - angryMarco used to be on that very armature...but I melted him down and used the same clay for this one. Will try again though!

Sweet, I'd like to get into sculpting too at some point - Andrea Blasich's work has impressed me immensely.
Did you build an armature first or is the clay itself stable enough?
Looks great.

Thanks man! Yeah, Blasich's work is pretty much the best. I actually just ordered a piece from him to sit on my desk.
I built a simple armature for this, yes. I find the clay moves around too much if you don't. It's just some sculpture wire glued onto that wooden base. Wrapped a little tinfoil over that for some mass, and it's really sturdy.

Thanks, that's good to know you set up a base first.
The only time I ever sculpted I didn't, and when I tried to attach legs it just kinda fell apart. :/
If you like Blasich, you might enjoy this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcuUJa…
Bobby Chiu did an Interview with him for Schoolism, it's great if you want something to listen to while sketching (or sculpting).
Another sculptor who really impresses me is Aris Kolokontes, he's also here on DA: boularis.deviantart.com/
