Yeah, DC heroes! I've been wanting to do this for a long time now and I finally managed to. I've really done just for kicks and as a warm-up to some new sample sequentials I want to do.
Now some notes that, if you're not a DC freak, you may not understand:
- I drew characters and versions of them that I like best, regardless of continuity or if it is the current version/costume or whatever;
- yeah, Manhunter
- yeah, no Robin, but Red Robin!
- sorry, Ronnie Raymond IS the one true Firestorm
- yes, I'm one of the 147 Aquaman fans worldwide. Will someone please write a decent book for this guy?? And And Orin IS the true Aquaman. Bring him back
- Flash = Wally West
- yeah, Captain Atom. And he's kinda hidden, yes

Everybody loves their heroes; myself included. Protecting us from the evil villains that plot to take over and kill all us norms.Β
However, I don't know if it is just me, but wouldn't we be safer if the heroes actually killed the villains instead of putting them in jail? Not everyone, mind you, as not everyone is beyond redemption. By why the f*ck not kill The Joker or Luthor or any number of other repeat offenders? They're not going to change their ways. And Luthor's bought his way out of his crimes against humanity I don't know how many times. It just seems safer for us and the more heroic thing to do. Forget all this 'taking the moral high ground' stuff. Suffer the negative image from the public in favor of the greater good being achieved. I'd rather be safer with the villains dead than have my heroes be virtuous and all that bull.Β

For many reasons, but the biggest is that it would make the heroes as bad as the villains.
Secondly DC heroes have been very specific about not being judge jury & executioner, in fact that's what the story "what so funny, about truth justice & the American way" which was later adapted into Superman versus the Elite was all about.
Thirdly killing villains would just result in criminal escalation & you would end up with a situation much like The Authority where the threats are actually coming from just ordinary people terrified that there supposed heroes have become judge jury & executioner, as well as the villains who have had to step it up to still compete.
Lastly it causes villains to go big, after all when robbing a bank & holding people hostage now gets you the same death sentence that killing everyone in a city block will get you, there is no longer a reason for restraint, might as well nuke the entire city block, after all they are going to kill you anyway.

The first and second points I understand and agree with. The DC heroes have always taken the moral high ground and can be recognized for that. Being willing to kill just like the villains does rather remove someone from being a hero into a new category entirely.Β
Your third point is also valid, but also only half the effect. While some criminals and villains would raise the stakes, others would retreat, not wanting to risk the more severe punishments that would come from a life of constant crime. And while norms would have issue with the heroes taking the role of JJE, this would only be some of them as people are very diverse in their views and opinions. Some would be made wary and even horrified of heroes doing this, while others would be in full support and approval, while still others wouldn't care at all because they have their own rationalizations: "I don't go around breaking the law, killing and murdering, so what do I have to be afraid of? It's not like this change affects me in any way."Β
Your final argument is actually the extremist view that you expect to see in this kind of issue, but your stance is very black and white, which isn't the case at all. Villains like The Joker and Luthor have actions that result in the deaths of hundreds to hundreds of thousands with every spree, or if not death, a wide and vast degree of suffering and hardship. Saying "because The Joker robbed a bank, everyone who robs banks must die" is very extreme and not the point at all. My point is more "give their actions more appropriate consequences; if they are irredeemable". Villains such as Poison Ivy and Mister Freeze I don't really see as villains despite being named such because they had justifiable reasons for their actions; their actions only caused them to go a bit too far. Yet, because of these single actions, they are dominantly labeled villains, either though both of their initial intents were based in salvation, Freeze for his wife and Ivy the planet. A pickpocket wouldn't get execution, but those who intentionally cause or attempt to cause genocide for their own amusement or personal gains, like The Joker and Luthor do respectively, should be made into a wet chunky paste on the side of the street.Β

There is only one drawing in your gallery, which would be too little to make a good idea about your work. But judging by that Batman piece, I'd tell you to put your time into learning anatomy, for now. Go deep. By books about it, see videos about it -- and draw as much as you can.Β
Comic books are much more than just anatomy, but that'd be task #1 for you. Hope that helps!

Hello!! I am a comic book writer and I need a comic artist for free, I will pay the comic book artist in publicity. I am working on a monthly 15-20 page comic, the comic will be posted on a twitter, Facebook and youtube page dedicated to the comic series.
