First of all this piece is - as always - bloody gorgeous. I get really jealous sometimes at how wonderful your work is.
Second, the title. Um... how about Lathbora Viran? Canon definition: the longing for something one can never truly know. It can refer both to Lavellan and/or the future he is trying to build.
(PS It's only a coincidence that this is also the title of my current fic. The sentiment just seems appropriate given the way Lavellan's vallaslin is fading away, since we all thought that it was the first step to a *happy* ending in that bloody scene.
Why can we never have a happy ending?! Next game I am *not* romancing the character Weekes writes!)

Ghost of Hope
I love the lighting and movement here. Ethereal and haunting. He loves her, and at the same time feels he's doing her favor by removing part of who she is because of the memory it brings him. He will forever see the tattoos as a marking of slavery, but to her they are not; they're part of who she is. She trusts him, accepts what he tells her, and in that moment he forgets he's here and now and sees only what she could have been so long ago. The hope of a memory long forgotten, the hope the slaves held when their own markings were removed.

It reminds me of the ending of Inquisition, with Solas and Flemeth (not that this is Flemeth), but as he takes her power/soul from her so..."Soul's Essence" or "For the Greater Good"

No idea why but as for a title this came to my head; The Eluvian Walker's Embrace. possibly the eluvian in the background made me think of that to be honest
