PL vs GS = Professor Layton vs Gyakuten Saiban = Phoenix's new crossover game = epic win = me crying in happiness
Nyoro~n = Nyoro~n Churuya-san = spinoff from Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
Poor Apollo, everyone's all excited about the upcoming games and have forgotten about him and his nonexistent sequel XD
No of course that's not Shu Takumi wearing Phoenix Wright's suit, I dunno what you're talking about
"Odoroki-kun" sounds more fun to say than "Apollo Justice" XD (incidentally, I think this is my first time drawing him)

It's a shame, too. While I do think AJ:AA is the worst in the series, I actually think some of the main characters have the potential to make for the best game. But, the next AJ game will probably have to wait until Edgeworth's trilogy is done, since you just know it's gonna be a trilogy.

Actually, this comic is what tipped me off about the new crossover game first.

Man, I'm most excited about the crossover! I love both series a lot! Before, I kept hoping that Capcom would make an animated movie of Ace Attorney, so I'm really happy about the animations XD

that's because apollo was just a BIIG mistake and capcom tries to make it better with going back in time with games like GK1 + 2 and the crossover.
(and, damn, that crossover totally blows GK2 away. really. PHOENIX COMES BACK. YAY. HE'S BACK.)
I'm so not sad about that "apollo gets no sequel". I would definitely buy it if Maya turns up in it again and marry Phoenix, but I didn't like GS4..

yeah, I think Capcom was pretty bold going with a new lead character, but they weren't brave enough to break the old formula, so it ended up that Apollo had no character, or felt too much like Phoenix (and Trucy felt like Maya 2.0), and a lot of people (including me), cared more about Phoenix than Apollo.
And the fact that GS4 wrote itself into a corner, because now would they bring Phoenix back now that his name is cleared? If not, what do they do with him? And that's why I think why they're putting more into GK and the crossover, because they don't want to deal with GS4 timeline XD
I was just surprised that GK2 came before GS5. But the crossover game just blew everything away XD Yay for the return of Phoenix and Maya (I never thought I'd see a game with them in it again ;__; )
I personally don't mind if Apollo doesn't get his sequel for a while, because I'd rather see a Phoenix game (PL vs PW 2? yes/yes?

i'm not sure that they will do GS5.
they announced it a few years ago, yes, but then shu takumi said he was done with GS now. he started ghost trick and things. he said in an interview he personally doesn't want to do another GS-game, but because of the fandom, he thinks about it. the crossover could convince him, though.
i think they're doing GK2 before GS5, because they have no idea what to do with GS5. Phoenix again? But then they HAVE to bring back Maya and the old characters, which means new sprites, because they're 7 years older now (24 years old Maya? no?!) or a new Apollo game. But like you said, I think Apollo has no personality at all (and he wears a bracelet. I mean.. a bracelet. but.. okay.) and Trucy is like a bad Maya-copy. And because Trucy is Apollos Assistant, Phoenix has to be in the game too, but Phoenix ~plans~ to be a lawyer again.

yeah it's probably because Nick and Edgey are more popular, and also imo AJ kinda wrote itself into a corner (do they let HoboNick back in the scene? do they let old characters come back or explain where they went etc) and they don't want to touch it XD
but yeah there's enough loose ends to continue as well. hopefully after these two games are out, they can work on AJ2
