I also changed Macht's colouring slightly. I don't normally do that, especially after a horse has been drawn, but this just felt more right.

Story

Despite being 14.2hh and officially a horse, Macht still looked tiny compared to all his rivals, and was by all means a pony. He was stocky and slightly heavy, with a thick neck, large head, short legs and a pony-like attitude, yet there was one thing Macht was good for: jumping. If there was one thing you could rely on him to do, it was fly over any obstacle put in front of him. He would never be a puissance competitor, but he was eager and fast and had the potential to blitz his opposition, with or without a rider apparently. Chase sighed as he looked at the little Sport Fjord, his dark chocolate coat gleaming in the light of the sun. They were waiting for permission to warm up and then enter the indoor arena. Chase had to say he was nervous. The Somesmera staff had talked him through Macht's habits and strengths, but it was still like riding a foreign horse. Chase also felt way too tall for the horse, but they had calculated that actually he was about right for Macht. He knew Aithne couldn't wait to get her hands on a horse that was small and agile that she could throw around a jumping course, but for now Macht would have to make do with a rather large and cumbersome rider.

Their number was called from over near the warm up ring, and Chase pushed himself up onto Macht's back. He spotted Lee talking to one of the staff by the warm up arena, and flashed him a smile as he rode past into the ring. The other man wasn't riding that day, and was taking the chance to relax before his double cross country run the next day. Chase brought Macht into a trot and the little stallion gave a playful buck before moving forwards. He still showed hints of his crazy temperament, but daily jumping sessions appeared to have made him a very workable horse. After a while, Chase asked for a canter, and Macht broke forwards smoothly. He snorted and lifted his head at this new pace, his ears perked straight forwards. He knew what was happening, and Chase was probably just as eager as Macht to get it all underway. He popped the little horse over the few jumps in the middle, and as usual he soared over them with no problem. These jumps were nothing, though, and they would both have to have their wits about them in the main arena.

After about ten minutes of letting Macht warm up and take a few jumps, they were called into the main arena. They passed another horse as they entered, the competitor sweating from its workout. Chase had walked the course earlier, but it was still terrifying to see it all laid out from the back of a horse. They began a slow canter around the arena, and as they approached the first jump the bell sounded. With a few powerful strides and a grunt, they had started their round, horse and rider flying over the obstacle before them. There wasn't much of a crowd yet, their part being early in the day, but there were a few people sat along one side, Lee among them as he watched carefully. This was Chase's first big competition, and he didn't want to see the lad get hurt.
