I am making a manga (or novel with a lot of pictures at least), and in doing so, I am developing my characters one at a time. It is DONE!!!
This is Kiala, riding a Unicorn, and Miakai is flying around happily, spooking the unicorn a little. The scenery is based off of a beach near my house, but instead of sand I drew grass cause it was prettier. Yes, I DREW that grass, and it took forever. Three days for the cliff w/ the waterfall, one day for the water, and two days for the grass. One day for Kiala and two for the unicorn and one for Miakai. I've never spent so much time on a picture before. and now it is done.

The detail is intense because full sized if printed, it would be five and a half feet long. I didn't mean to make it that big.

very pretty, especially the unicorn and Miakai! the mane and the tail... so silvery... so dreamy... and the background is very nicely done too. but sensei... Kiala looks kind of strange. at the head and the hair part she looks slightly out of proportion, and i think a darker or warmer skin colour would look better on her. the green eyes stand out a bit too much because of her blonde hair... maybe it could be toned down a little?
anyhow, I like the rest of the picture. Great job!

Thank you. Darker skin color? You mean because the light is behind her? As for the eyes, I want the green to jump out at you... her character description is that she has piercing green eyes that seem to glow, cutting through darkness, like a great cat. When she is fighting in disguise, only here eyes can be seen, and that is how Ryu recognizes her, and also, because of those cat like eyes, people start to think that she is the same Tiger who fought in the last great war (who is really Ko-Chan...) and there is so much more to it... but the eyes jumping out at you is a key part of her character design.
I'm looking at the picture now, to see what you said... if I can adjust it a little, or if I agree...
I think you might be onto something there, I can darken some of the shadows that she has that get lost in this size. I think I will. Do you think her head is too big?
Anyway, I am glad you like the unicorn and Miakai. ^__^ And I am glad for any suggestions to make this the best picture I can make it. After spending so much time on it, I want to make the most of it. I can try making her head a bit smaller if that is what you were thinking, but this is anime manga art and the heads are always a bit big, so I can only say I will try and see how it looks. I appreciate the critique. I'm not changing the eye color though.

yes, green eyes do suit her... I just think that the hair looks a little detatched from her head, that's why it's kind of weird. but still... like I said, it's a great picture, with a few adjustments it'd be perfect ^^ so keep it up, sensei!!!
