for sjMen are for drawing on.
In fine dark lines that mark
where obsessions begin and raptures
begin anew.
Men are for writing on
in vivid inks, indigo,
obsidian, dayglow words
that proclaim life and art.
There are tattoos in skin. There are
warm tones and burn marks.
There are scratches and
streaks. There are shadows.
And there is you joint and sinew
sliding together and there is you,
ease and breadth art
and the occasional speck of death
and there is you quiet eyes
and there is you.
Make it music. Make it
melting melody, make it make me music.

I really like the strange spacing in the two-line stanzas. Muchly. It breaks it up, draws it out, and makes it strange and thoughtful. It really feels organic, which is an interesting transition after the very er, nonorganic picture that I have of ink.

You're right about the title, it doesn't suit. But, it does seem to suit when you're not sure about the poem, I tend to wonder at the nature of the ink; washable? non-washable?
Nevertheless, the poem's fantastically musical.

This is incredibly beautiful. And you're right, the title doesn't suit. I would have gone for something alond the lines of "Art." It takes nothing from the beauty of this poem, though.
