also, glad to know that someone uses scars as mere scars for the character and not try to add some brooding and deep meanings into it or anything

Wesley tells EVERYOOONE about the traumatic event of how he got his scars! But not until two thirds of the way into the story. and does so in a deep, expressionless voice.
And once he mentions it, it continues to be brought up every other scene until the end of the story. Which by then, you as the reader are sick and tired of hearing it and wished he'd never mentioned it at all, ever.
Because that's how it's doooone!
