... or Hikaru Ichijo (as I sometimes prefer), is one of the sweetest leading men in the animes I love ^^. The anime in this case, is Robotech:The Macross Saga, or Super Dimension Fortress Macross as it's known over in Japan
The Veritechs in the background are manipulated and enhanced screenshots (because I just didn't have time to draw them). This artwork is inspired by a scene from the episode, "Reconstruction Blues", and the music I listened to all through are Christmas songs...!!

I love Robotech especially how Rick matured and grew as a person and a leader over the course of the series, going from the cocky, naive young man that he was in Boobytrap to a seasoned veteran commander who men would happily follow to hell and back.

I LOVE Robotech! I have Robotech and Macross on DVD. I want Mospeada the original version of The New Generation on DVD but its sold out. Ah, Rick, I love him and yet I could strangle him at the same time. LOL! He was my first anime crush. Mamoru/Darien from Sailor Moon is my second.
I hated Rick mooning after Minmei too. I was so glad he wised up and got with Lisa.

I have both Macross and Masters, but I don't have New Generation (I'd so love to see it again. It's been 15 years, sigh). Thanks for the nice comment, A. I heard about the movie, but am not that excited sadly, seeing the state of anime adaptations these days. Well, I still havent met a Robotech fan who didn't love Rick/Lisa

Ah, the New Generation. I love that better than Southern Cross. And Scott was my fave from the New Generation set.
I don't blame you about anime movies. I heard Street Fight sucks and Dragonball was awful. One of the worst anime adaptions ever. I read were they were getting the guy who wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back and the Bodyguard to write it along with other writers. Tobey Maguire is a producer and he wants the lead. I cannot see him as Rick Hunter. I hope someone talks him out of it.

I dunno even if they'd stick to the original story for this movie. Yep, adaptations everywhere have anime fans groaning. They've still got Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note and Ninja Scroll, ALL my faves in the works. *Sighs*. I dont like Southern Cross that much either, and Mospeada was such a sweet consolation after macross was over. Scott.. oh yes. That reminds me, I must attempt drawing them sometime.

Yup! Macross is one of them that got me into anime fandom, and I really like Rick who developed a lot of sense and personality. I hated him whining after Minmei.
