Why is the body of the cub version like WAY darker?

I've decided to make them look like actual baby hyena's. Their body's are super dark while there heads are starting to get color ^^

As a pup she's very rambunctious and tomboyish like Vitani, but she has to go through some trials and well they leave her as a pessimistic and grumpy adult. With a lot of sarcasm too haha.

If there is one thing that bother's me to no end it that the hyena's in TLK almost always have dark fur while African hyenas normally have golden fur and brown spots/markings. But you know the movie couldn't have the nasty hyenas or Scar have golden fur like Mufasa & Simba.

Yeah I've noticed that too! While in some scenes (the stampede) we see them with an actual brownish coat.
But a lot of people tend to go with the color pallets that we mainly see them in, the elephant grave yard and be prepared and those scenes are heavily influanced by green and gray to fit the scenes and that really bugs me. And now the lion guard Hyena's are... very purple.

I guess it bugs me even more because I see so many interesting shades & colors for lions in fan art but hyenas are always shown to be dark.
I don't think I've seen a single TLK fanart that shows hyenas with their natural colors =/
Another thing that bugs me is the flat out wrong way hyenas were portrayed in the TLK movies, in real life hyenas hunt most of their food and are very successful, it's lions that steal the meal from them most of the time.
I mean I can't be mad at people for portraying them in comics & stories like they were in the movies but it still bother's me.
