I do a similar thing where I tunnel vision on details I just want to include everything so I know your pain haha. It's fine to do that but what I'm trying to move away from is detailing too much out the gate. Make sure your forms are correct before going overboard on the detail as those will serve as a great base for your details in the end.
As it is now the way you rendered the piece seems fine it is a simpler kind of style and I like the background to go with it. What I don't think is working so well in this case is the use of colors which seem to be a bit washed out. There doesn't seem to be a balanced range of values where you have your brights and your darks. Everything is in the middle ground right now so try and darken up your shadows and add a bit of saturation to your lit areas. Also make sure your fundamentals are in line! There are two areas in particular that I can point out that need to be tweaked which are the eyes and also the stack of books. The eyes are a bit misaligned the left one is more tilted clockwise than the right. The books appear to be on different perspective angles as they stack onto eachother as well which comes across odd.

Thank you so much for the critique. The endless out of the gate detailing I know. I tend to forget myself working on some tiny detail that no one can even see properly, making all my effort wasted.
The three things you brought up, perspective, value and balance(in the eyes) are something I need to work on. I will admit the book thing came from not planing properly ahead, need to strike a balance between working in this style and still making sure things are where they should be. The eye is one of my common issues, I don't know why even with guidelines it always feels like I can't gt the eyes right, will have to keep on practicing.
Finally the values, yes I know of this. This is my biggest problem, for some reason I tend to mute out the colors in all drawings I don't know why, they look fine when I work on them but when I mess with the contrast I usually spot that they are all in the midrange. So bit more planing ahead, work on contrast and thing should come with time.
But thank you, this did mean a lot and I'll keep on working on these things

Hey no problem yo I'm glad I could help and yeah these things are stuff I, and a lot of other artists, struggle with quite a bit. It takes practice over time to make sure you plan things properly ahead of time so don't worry about it. The same thing with eyes too they are just pretty darned hard to place properly and make them look right. As for the values a good way to check those is to have a layer filled entirely to black and set it to a blending mode like multiply or something of the sort so it turns your image into gray scale. That way you can switch it on and off easily to check as you paint.
