Peckinpah was the greatest, my favorite director of all time. For me there's not much better than a double feature of THE WILD BUNCH & BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA! Twice the Peckinpah and twice the Warren Oates! Love the piece and thanks for putting in Coburn as Steiner from CROSS OF IRON.

Awesome tribute to some of his amazing characters. The older I get the more I love westerns...don't know why..

I can relate to that. I wasn't a huge western fan as a kid but as an adult I have grown to love them.

I think the archetypal characters are connecting for me now...I use to think the world was filled with grey...I was wrong, there is good and definitely pure evil in this world...

But in westerns there is always grey. Half the westerns you see are about bad men who usually end up doing something nobel by the end. Or don't, but are shown as heroes. Hell even the so-called good guys of the west like Wyatt Earp were really just cold stone killers. The anti-hero lives in the grey areas of fiction and reality for that matter. None of us are all good, and none of us are all bad. And there's that fact that no bad man thinks he's bad or that he's doing the wrong thing. Black and White storytelling can be found in maybe "G.I. Joe" the animated cartoon series...lol

It's fun to work like this...it was very free. I started off trying to be tight with the pencils but I was drawing it at work, at night with little light and the pencils were gifts for Christmas and they kind of sucked (I couldn't get a sharp clean point) so about a third of the way into the drawing I just handled it like a sketch and let myself just be free with the lines and a little half ass if you will. Because of the loose style it only took me about 2 hours to draw this entire piece.
