How can you tell that it's Nurgle they're fighting? I can't. Very great coloring job. It gives the art its lifelike soul.

Well their not fighting Nurgle himself, but they are fighting his dudes. I can tell they follow him because the Wolves are standing over either a really big Plaguebearer or a Great Unclean One. Plus some of the dead Chaos Marines have a triangle with orbs on their chest, another Nurgle visual motif.
