That'll be nice if they are not the TMNT of the 80's cartoon.

Miss these guys. They really need to make a comeback. I mean now's a great time with the Battletoads meme and its huge fanbase.

Main problem is the genre itself: too few companies want to risk on a beat'em up as far as I can see.

Yeah. That is true, but look at the massive success that is Castle Crashers, plus, Battletoads is also a trial-and-error platformer and has a bit of racing game in there as well.

Castle Crashers is a great example of the simpleness of the genre, I love the game and that it support a 4P couch co-op. I think the main problem is they want to complicate it to make it "more sellable", and that it's not the genre.

I think if they use Battletoads/Double Dragon and Super Battletoads Arcade as the template, it'll do really well I think. I mean remember, those two Battletoads games focused heavily on the Beat 'em Up action and the platforming. Taking out the racing and shooter stages would be a good idea.

That's one thing for shure that made BT so heavy: the racing stages. Turbo Tunnel is the most remembered stage since so many got stuck in there, but there are also Surf City, Volkmire's Inferno and Clinger Winger, which got hellier as you got closer to the Dark Queen. But also those where stages that gave something new to the game experience and were not a line beating rats and pigs. Two games that are, in a very personal opinion, the most complicated BTUs are Dungeons & Dragons Shadow Over Mistara (Capcom's CPS2) and Super Double Dragons (Nintendo's SNES): the first by the construction of the game itself that allows a huge amount of ways to finish it (and even a super combinated attack) and the second for the technical constrution of the fight system of the protagonists (despite the bugs on the bosses). The genre could make a revival, but you can't take it to a 2DEEP territory for it will loose it's magic (full health with a trashcan chicken! YAY!).

Yeah. Speaking of which, did you know that Super Double Dragon was highly incomplete, and when released in Japan as Return of Double Dragon: Sleeping Dragon has Awoke, it had more added to it, but was still highly unfinished? There was going to be dialogue (an actual story!), the truck stage would have taken place on a MOVING truck, and Duke would have also had a brother, making it like Double Dragons vs. Double Dragons! Here's a link if you're interested: [link] You might be surprised what you learn!

Now this I ignored. Sad it was so rushed, it would be nice to see it finished.

Yeah. I agree. If I knew how to make games in OpenBOR, I wouldn't mind making a remake with elements that didn't make it, with flash animated cutscenes.

Thanks. I don't have enough programming skills right now though. Although since it has a pretty flat ground like the Final Fight and Bare Knuckle games it shouldn't be as hard as I think.

In the beggining, they fought a lot with pixel crash, also with specials, enemies still moving on patrol car bazooka special, wall-through recognition and some others. Remember thst it was done from skratch, so it was trial and error like. The resulting game after 10 years of development is an awesome masterpiece-like game. In the main page (where there is no download link thanks to SEGA Europe) there is a list of updates between beta versions before the final product.

Wow.... That is a lot.... Return of Double Dragon remake wouldn't be from scratch, it would be an OpenBOR mod, in which I'm gonna see if I can do seperate punch and kick buttons (I see in the control setup there is attack 1, 2, 3, and 4), so It's totally possible.

One thing I love from RoDD/SDD is the fact that it is very technical and every button on the pad was worth using. Doing that will make an excellent addition to revive the genre that only lives in the memory and some f2p PC games.
