No wonder! I mean, if you watch them powering up completely out of context and not knowing the show, that idea is likely to cross your mind . I gotta update it with all the new transformations

Dragonball has been such a huge influence for so many. It was so dumb and so awesome at the same time. Love it.

Me and my buddy were always drawing fanart and our own characters for DB.
Maaan, that were nice times.

I also collected other manga by Akira Toriyama like "Sandland" and "Neko Majin".

Neko Majin was hilarious, that Vegeta cameo. I think a remember having several doctor slumps, and...One about ghosts? could it be? was pure toriyama wackiness, nothing like dragonballz....I mean only dragonball Z is like that, from his works.

But yeah, he's quite the accomplished manga artist, it is actually insane how hard they work in the industry there. Nothing we'd ever want to be subjected to i bet.

Yeah, not to mention all those games in Toriyama-style.
I'm actually not that deep in DB anymore. My interests changed 10 years ago.
But I remember those Summer holidays back then, when I played Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 through the nights... Jeez I was grinding so hard, but ended up losing in the boss fights anyways T_T
I loved the characters so much :'D

And the obscure ones like Hackman (or Ackman?) or Tobal, the worse fighting game in history ... I did play a few dragon quests, but...DAMN! they do grindy! i didnt even know you had to grinds mobs in the starting zone jus tto progress a bit on the story! crazy! It was a ps2 one...I remember the spanish title "el periplo del rey perdido"...I can't even literally translate that, who the hell uses "periplo", anyways, somethin about a lost king, might even be the same. Did it have a sassy Trunks looking white haired dude in a red suit? It was super difficult and never got too far off... Had way too many rpgs on ps2 back then DAMN!

Do you enjoy super? I personally have a bias, so i kind of allow myself to...roll with it, and lately it's gotten somewhat better...I mean...Toriyama is hardly present anymore... But more than he was for GT... I enjoy how he keeps thrwing in wacky characters, way more relaxed than when he was actively working. Also i have the biggest mancrush on vegeta, among others... Is like...I want him to... BE THE BEST!!! AGH! I ADMITTED IT!!!   haha joke, I love that he is starting to show more layers, but i don't like that since Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, Gohan and the rest are retired, Vegeta is the punching bag, the red carpet that gets rolled so others can step on him while looking good... Thata analogy is mine, I´m affected

Hackman/Ackman ... can't recall. Nope.
After Dragon Quest 8 ( "Journey of the cursed king" ) there were just some Tekken-like DB fighting games I played ( woah, I LOVED Tekken! xD )

And YES! That "sassy Trunks" was in dragon quest 8!!! He was my absolute fav!
His name was Angelo! xD had to google it.
As I said... it strongly flowed off for me with Akira Toriyama. I think Dragon Ball GT was the last stuff I consumed. After that I know nothing about story/characters. :'D
But holy crap... what. Vegeta is some kind of punching bag in any way to anyone?! W00T. They must have changed the chars-plot immense o_o

I think it's funny how no one I knew/met really hyped Son goku. Everyone was focused on Vegeta or Piccolo xD
Including me. Goku somehow never had any true character (at least I don't remember any depth in DB and DBZ ).... aside from being naive, pure good and eating a lot. lol
(Fun Fact: For the first appearance of Vegeta in DBZ, they got the same voice actor like they hired for Spongebob Squarepants in germany. And everyone HATED it xD )

Ah, Angelo, you fabulous charmer lol. Used to play the crap out of tekken, up until 4...Then an ex kicked my ass so hard at tekken 6 with that super cheater robot girl, i bet it was one of the reason for the breakup lol. Paul and Bryan ain't the same...

Yeah, Goku is like the golden boy. Both Vegeta and Piccolo have huge arcs, from full on tyrants, to giving their life to protect those they love. In Vegeta's case, the moral they give in super is rather mixed. Because he's now a caring father and husband, way more level headed, generous, like seriously straight up giving food to war orphans. He has changed so much, and even if he doesnt want to get surpassed too drastically by Goku, surpassing Goku is no longer his goal, he just can't fight against the writters. But the thing is...About the moral... No matter how hard you try, no matter how much you change your bad ways, no matter how much determination you have, some people will just have all that and more for granted. without doing a thing... And, that's mixed as hell...Well it is odd when the show wants you to root for such a golden boy, instead of characters with actual struggles and accomplishments, beyond the battlefield... But i guess that's just not dragonball, that would be too deep for a series that has characters with food names. I just prefer Vegeta for all the reasons mentioned before, same goes for Piccolo, but he got relegated to babysitter tier, at least he doesnt throw Pan against the first rock he finds, like he did with Gohan.

But you are aware of the existance of the Battle of Gods movie, and the dragon ball super series, right? I mean, it exists to rectify Dragonbal GT and Evolution, toriyama was so miffed about those products, he didnt want them to be the final dragonball ppoject that he sees. Battle of Gods it truly is the best dragonball movie, some of the animation looks silly cause modern studios are lazy and favor 3d over epic hand drawn animation, but, is not too bad. It introduces 2 of the most awesome characters made by Toriyama for the series. Beerus and Whis.

Just googled Vegeta/Spoungebob and well...That's just wrong!

Haha, your writing is somewhat nostalgic to me. It's as if hearing from old, forgotten friends xD
I know that there are a few movies of DB, yep. But I never got to watch them.
I guess it also was an issue with my hometown and family. There was only one bookshop and manga were sparse :/ Back then there also wasn't any Internet. Also we didn't have a lot of money. Pity actually. Theres so much I missed out of unreachable media (and no money) :/ And today I have other interests. I'm not in Anime anymore. The last Anime I actually watched was One punch man. Hilarious shit! xD Made me also think back to DB-times. ( isn't it acutally some kind of mocking hommage to DB? )

The whole Marvel/Avenger stuff is more likely what I can relate to.
We got every blu-ray so far *g*

And of course Deadpool.

is her fault, for marrying a pure blood Saiyan...Now we know why goku is the strongest, he had this kind of problems ...Vegeta eats to healthy, so he doesnt have to go through this, so his energy accumulation is less intense (or something like that hahaha )

And yeah, Gohan was so promising, and he did good all over DBZ, but then something strange called "GT" came to our lives, hahahaha, and destroyed every character we loved, except for Goku

I´m right at this moment working on another of these strips, What do you think about the coloring or overall look? (I´m trying different things) I kinda wanna keep it "Simple" as long a it looks good, at least

The coloring is very good! you have to continue color like this ^^ It does look simple and good at the same time you dont have to worry about that

yeah, I´m suppossed to be a hardcore gamer, still never finished resident evil 3, when Nemesis starts chasing me i get too stressed, I don´t even want to turn the game on, and actually gave me a lot of nightmare over the years, All the other resident evil games i can take, but 3...is too much for my delicate heart...But hidding behind a younger brother or sister sounds like real fear hahah

My heart is delicate too and I can easily get scared by all the gores in Resident Evil
but I never get nightmares on Resident Evil..sound so traumatize XDD
