Your work is so inspirational! Are there stories behind them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

maiderbee In reply to DadoPanda [2016-08-14 08:31:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh, there are always two stories, the one I had in my mind when I first envisioned the drawing and the one you yourself create in your mind when looking at it, and they are both valid.
There is always an idea behind every thing, however vague. I feel like most of my drawings have a melancholy theme, I don't know if I convey it properly, well...
This one in particular is part of a series for an art school project, we had to do something related to the house and I decided to design characters based on appliances, so here I used a computer as reference. I thought about how computers have become such an integral part of our modern lifes, we use them for everythin and I started seeing it as some kind of holy temple, the all knowing god. It also had to do with the first computers, that were so big they occupied whole rooms.

Anyway, thank you for your kind words!

That is brilliant. You are approahcing your work from different angles. I believe that every visual form of art needs some sort of a background story to give it a soul I was wondering what program(s) you are using for your digital art? I never dared myself to try anything else but actual pen and paper (and Sai occasionally).

I use photoshop, any version is fine. I started using sai too, it's a very good software. I used it when I was too scared for photoshop , actually.

Thanks to you really, for commenting and being interested in the first place! I'm sure that once you start drawing you'll be a fine artist in no time, we are all on our way to improvement after all!

I like the way you are tapping into the current interest in human/machine interaction without producing a plethora of boring robots. You have really good concepts, execute them well and they show your individual skills and thought. Good stuff!

Thank you so much! I am fairly new to this robot interest, but since I had to investigate a bit about it for a university project, I've became fascinated. I am leaning more on the biomechanoid. You see, I don't want to draw transformers, I am not interested in the machine per se, but in it as a reflection of human nature. Heh, don't know if I'm making any sense.

digglesthedog In reply to maiderbee [2016-07-06 16:00:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it does make sense because you're really expressing more of what it is to be human, and thus our human nature.
We can make machines which look and act like us, because we recognise who we are better than say, the animals, because
to relate to them better, we usually try to anthropomorphise them. Machines don't have life to start with, so in making androids
or biomechanoids their form has to be human to be more relatable. Hmm...now I wonder if I'm making sense

maiderbee In reply to digglesthedog [2016-07-08 12:28:56 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you are, the thing is that the subjet can get really complex. We humans tend to anthromorphise everything, make it look like us becouse if not we can't relate or understand anything, we are that egocentric or maybe we have been alone for so long. It's interesting, I'm now reading "Solaris" a sci-fi book someone here recommended to me and it aproaches this topics in a very evocative way.

So very true - and Solaris is an excellent read for your current topic choice as well.
Keep up the great work

Sounds nice! Is it about digital painting only or also about traditional and other art? Who doesn't^^ But I think you are on a very good way! I like your creations (: (and I'm not the one to judge here - I try to teach myself digital painting, sometimes more sometimes less effective^^)

maiderbee In reply to Kathaja [2016-03-31 19:51:45 +0000 UTC]

It's for a subject in Art School in which we can use any discipline we like, digital or traditional painting, sculpure, performance, whatever. The theme was "the house", and we have to work on a personal project that relates to it, in whatever way we choose. It's very open and vague. My own work is focused on digital drawing, although the first two pieces were traditional, becouse drawing is my main forte.
I am starting to love digital painting and am finding it is my thing, which is a pitty becouse my Art School is not really that guided to it.

Ah I see, good luck with your future projects, I'm curious what you create next!
And yes, that's a bit unlucky, they should offer digital art courses too.

Thank you so much! The original version has a bigger size so you can see that there is light coming from two ceiling fans, but I resized it to increase the dramatic effect.
