Thanks! There's a wildlife park near-ish my house and I got a lot of the feathers from there.

All the feathers look lovely! I almost never find bird feathers where I live. D: When I do they're all nasty and beaten up. Your camera is way cool. ;3

It's sort of a matter of looking at the right time and being in the right place. Although if you live in a desert then that's understandable...
Ty it's a nikon d40, very lovely. I want a macro lens for it |:

There aren't a lot over here, but if you have certain flowers you get to see them 8D last year they LOVED these one bell flowers, I even got one to land one me OTL... and I had many others randomly start attacking me when I was watering the pots D:
we had honey suckles at our old house, so there were always about ten or twelve there at a time xD
<3 they're one of my favorite birds besides cardinals lol

Magweno In reply to masshuru-mu [2009-08-05 23:05:14 +0000 UTC]
oh man I've never seen a cardinal either
why are british birds so boring and brown
I saw a crested tit when I was camping, that was great, and rock pippits, but that was about the most interesting thing..

xD Utah really doesn't have much either... we only got robins and a few pretty birds that everyone likes to make fun of how HIDEOUS they all sound >.>
I've only seen half the cool birds when I visit my sister in Iowa, gosh I love it there ;n; so many squirrels and cardinals xD

Cool!
Do you know if there's a law against keeping feathers? I heard somewhere that there was but then I read up that it was in America and only for bald eagles or something
π: 0 β©: 2
masshuru-mu In reply to Magweno [2009-08-05 21:53:05 +0000 UTC]
pft you pretty much aren't allowed to do anything to a bald eagle xD so that's understandable... but pretty much all other feathers and such should be fine :b as long as they aren't from endagered birds or something I'm assuming xD cause you can still buy plenty of feathers here and there
'specially at rendezvous and such

Magweno In reply to masshuru-mu [2009-08-05 22:06:29 +0000 UTC]
yea i know common birds are fine but I thought all raptors and eagles are off limits... raptors aren't endangered but you're still not allowed to possess harris hawk feathers unless your a falconer? Dunno
still it's the US, UK is different I hope. we don't get bald eagles ):

Cloukins In reply to Magweno [2009-08-05 20:07:41 +0000 UTC]
I've not heard of it (but I don't go out of my way to make sure I'm not breaking any laws *shot at* )
I imagine that would be the case in America cause they looove their bald eagles.
Otherwise, probably not x3
Those swallows are pretty (in a dead way x-x )

xD I spend a lot of time outside ducking and diving for feathers (even venturing beyond the confines of 'lul get off my grass, you' signs (albeit VERY CAREFULLY)
I wonder if there are people that specifically go out of their way to catch people stealing /feathers/? xD

Magweno In reply to Cloukins [2009-08-06 08:42:56 +0000 UTC]
I went into a farm to get a lot of feathers but although it's a working farm it's usually abandoned so I was technically trespassing but no one saw me.
That would be hilarious, the feather detectives!

We have the same camera, lol.
Also, where does one find such an assortment of dead and molting avians?
π: 0 β©: 1
Magweno In reply to Airveia [2009-08-05 19:25:13 +0000 UTC]
well moulting birds just drop their feathers as they fly so you find them everywhere. I found all mine in woods and all the eagle owl feathers in a local wildlife park. they only do it biannually though so you don't find them all the time. And I found the dead swallows in the clock tower at the farm down the road where they evidently get trapped and then get turned into mummies. And the wings were from a gamekeeper-friend. : D
