I'm trying to decide how much further I want to push this one. I kind of like the halfbody illustration, but I'm toying with the idea of making it a fullbody and putting a background behind him, a darkened city street. Also wondering if it's gonna be pure lineart or if I'll go in and add halftones. Don't think it's gonna be in color, I'm getting sort of a "White Wolf" vibe off of this one. All the illustrations in those old RPG books were in black and white, heavy lineart, sort of a Film Noir feel to them all. 
Also, for the campaign he's in, I'm keeping an in-character journal. Thinking about posting the journal entries, if my DM is cool with it.

The sword would be slightly more realistic if you took off the temper line. A real one is only visible in certain light.

I think I agree, it's a little distracting at the least. I may not get rid of it completely but I may find a way to minimize it a bit.
