Description Note: Witchwinter is not an alternate history of this Earth. It's very similar, but specific historical events, people or persons do not exist. That being said, it is often easier to use equivalent societies or concepts to explain the setting.

Geography: The focus of the Witchwinter circle is the western coast of an area that is superficially equivalent to the American continents. Yet it is larger, reminding of Laurasia, with a southern subcontinent that is a mixture of South America and America. There is a huge mountain range extending almost from pole to pole parallel to the coastline, similar to the Andes and Rocky Mountain ranges. The coast is mostly of a temperate sea climate - or had been, until the seemingly never ending Witchwinter began - and beyond the mountains there are vast plains, deserts and, to the south, huge primeval forests.

Climate and ecology: Even though the continent is covered in snow and ice almost down to the Tropic of Cancer, it is an supernatural winter, barely reaching the freezing point. Agriculture is difficult under these circumstances, but huge migrating species of game, similar to caribou, bison and even mammoths travel the vast expanses and can support both nomadic hunters as well as fearsome predators. The seas and rivers, though often frozen over, teem with fish and stranger aquatic species. When enough water has accumulated in the mountain seas and slopes, spectacular floods race down the valleys.

So I wanted to do another picture with Maralah and some nice mountains. Actually I could not fit all the ideas into one picture, so a couple more are imminent

DAZ3D Studio - Iray Render. Minor Photoshop post work. mostly removing clipping errors & raw filter. About 8 h - 3k iterations.

Update. Fixed the corset shadow. It drove me crazy.

"Was davor", wie mysteriös?!

This looks excellent.

Surrouniding is stunning (and lady)!

Again I neeed to google "Witchwinter" to know little bit about that world.

I'm loosing my fantasy fan credibility with speed of light.

Don't worry about google. You'll have to look in the same place that has the lore on Emarukistan

Kibosh-1 [2018-12-05 03:42:07 +0000 UTC]

Fantastic cinematic scene of Maralah! The scene looks so natural and real (with no looming creature in the sky yet) and your description of the world and geography is excellent   It's always fun to have a few scenes fleshing out a story but of course it means much more work! Are those Finks mountains by any chance?

Its this one: www.daz3d.com/winter-terrains-… (I just say Black Friday... In my greed I overlooked the fact that there are no Iray shaders, and they mean it.) with modified Terradome shaders.

Excellent work!  I am looking forward to seeing and learning more like who or what might be causing the supernatural winter.

Creepy walking on ice.

Thank you! Creepy is quite to the point. The tranquility in the picture might be slightly misleading.

I like how we get to experience the continents, so far, with Maralah. This is a fantastic image. Love the setting and lighting on this especially. Feels like a frozen landscape.

Actually I'm still struggling with the light (as always), I was not quite happy with the results lately (including this one), but there's always the next picture

Anyway, I am really happy with my new mountains, really an improvement over terradome, and the lady is relieved that she got some nice furry gloves and leggins (though you cant see them here) for the cold

(the catering staff with the hot chocolate is just to the right, if you turn around...)

Cool picture, I like the face of Maralah and the world look interesting. I'm curious to learn more about it and her.

"Actually I could not fit all the ideas into one picture, so a couple more are imminent"

Ah yes, I know that too well. It's quite often that I realise that it will be better to add 1 or 2 pictures to make the narrative more coherent and smooth.

I both like and dislike that, because like I said it makes the story more coherent and smooth, but it make it advancing more slowly too.

Very cool Magnus.  I like how you throw story, history in there to tell the story.  I was going to mention that she would freeze to death in these type conditions but then you have to remember the eskimo and how they have a much thicker skin that is more tolerant to cold regions such as this.
