Description Continuing with the Aywas.com plushies! This time, a (Skyfrost) Melo!

Like him? He may be commercially produced! However for this to happen, some funds need to be raised. It takes $2000 to get a plush mass-produced, so if 100 people pre-ordered one for $20 he'd be funded in no time! This plush series is not quite ready for pre-orders yet but stay tuned for more info, I'll post about this as soon that I have more details myself such as where and how to pre-order him and his friends.

Melo measures 7" tall not including the ears, is made out of minky and faux fur and features machine embroidered details

Aywas series:
1-Chiro 2- Bumble 3-Melo 4-Manticore 5-Lunaris(coming soon) 6-Paleo(coming soon)

All the plushies in my gallery are made by me.
I was only the designer for this project, I am not responsible for the financing of the commercialized plush. As far as I know, this project is currently on hold.

I really hope you are able to get this series/plush done commercially for two reasons: it'd be super exciting and awesome for you to have that AND I would have a venue for supporting you (since I currently can't afford to commission you, even though I'd like to. I might have the chance later though ) oh and I really like aywas characters despite not really liking the site.

This is incredibly made! I'm currently trying to make plushies of my own, and I know how hard it is!
I love the expression, the ears... Okay, I'll be quiet now.

If these went into mass production, what would be the estimated cost?

MagnaStorm In reply to Sensei-Will [2013-06-19 14:42:44 +0000 UTC]

I'm not entirely sure since I'm not responsible for their production, but I believe it was estimated at $20 per plush or so

Sensei-Will [2013-06-13 18:25:52 +0000 UTC]

Is this based off of a show or movie? Or are these just characters you came up with? Either way, they're awesome!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagnaStorm In reply to AkaliFoxx [2013-05-29 20:20:26 +0000 UTC]

the $20 a piece plushies would be factory produced, not made by me. My own one of a kind work is still priced to reflect the work that goes into them

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AkaliFoxx In reply to MagnaStorm [2013-05-29 20:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Just out of curiosity, how much would you sell it for if you put your own time and effort? Because I have seen stuff like this go for 200 or more and it is ridiculous. . . even if it is hand-made Idk it seems like it would be over-priced. All these are such cute designs by the way. ^~^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagnaStorm In reply to AkaliFoxx [2013-05-29 21:45:46 +0000 UTC]

It's not really overpriced when you think about not only the material cost but the time it takes to create a plush like this and how high living costs are. I only use the best quality materials, and I can spend anywhere from 8 to 20 hours on a plush like this(this particular guy took 8, all the other Aywas plushies took at least 15). I also use two high end machines that weren't free and require maintenance. I pay rent and bills and a student loan. So yes, a one of a kind like this handmade by me would indeed be around $200.

AkaliFoxx In reply to MagnaStorm [2013-06-02 02:14:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm. . . Maybe you are right. I don't know. I think I'd have to start making plushies again to fully understand. But yeah, counting 10 bucks an hour for 8 hours would be 80-then the good materials-plush the quality of the outcome.
Well I think it's opened my eyes a bit more. ^~^ Idk if I'd sell it for 200 but that's just because if I did I think i'd feel guilty. XD Idk-i find it so hard to price art.

I still think 200 is overpriced. . . I mean thats over 10 bucks an hour for 8 hours worth of work. Nice plush though. Id Rather make my own.

MagnaStorm In reply to AkaliFoxx [2013-06-03 09:53:58 +0000 UTC]

=A-chan--Creations hit the mail pretty square on the head. The minimum wage in my province is $10.00 at the moment.
If you'd rather make you own then that's perfectly fine too, but when people buy from me or any other artists with years of experience they're not just buying a plush, they're buying our skills built over the course of all those years

AkaliFoxx In reply to MagnaStorm [2013-06-14 02:55:30 +0000 UTC]

Well the more I think about it the more it makes sense to buy it for that much or more. Like, how I do work the size of regular printer paper but it takes hours and hours because I do it in great detail in small pen-and I have been drawing since I was 3 lol So people usually think that my work is worth 50 MAYBE 70 at the most even though I spend days on what I do-so I don't sell my stuff because it's worth more to me then to anyone else yet ^~^ thanks for opening my eyes!

Eyeheartz0rd In reply to AkaliFoxx [2013-06-03 03:59:52 +0000 UTC]

It's not a minimum wage job. It's an artisan craft. You need to be payed for your work.

I already explained to her that I understand now. Other people already told me the exact same thing. I don't need to be told any more times. You can read what I had said if you wan't. Trust me I wasn't trying to offend anyone-just state my opinion. However, now I have a different view then before. ^~^

I don't know about Canada (which is where ~MagnaStorm lives), but minimum wage in Tennessee is $7.25 an hour. Are you suggesting that ~MagnaStorm charge less than what she would make working at McDonald's? You do realize that plushie-making is a specialty service, right?

If the price is too expensive for you, that's fine, but I think it is very offensive to say that her work is overpriced when she is only charging enough to pay for supplies and living expenses. She does not profit from her work at all.

It also takes many years of practice to reach the skill level that she is at right now, and she is constantly improving with every plushie she makes. It is only fair that she charge accordingly as her skills improve.

I live in Idaho. I think it is about the same. But as I said to her "Well the more I think about it the more it makes sense to buy it for that much or more. Like, how I do work the size of regular printer paper but it takes hours and hours because I do it in great detail in small pen-and I have been drawing since I was 3 lol So people usually think that my work is worth 50 MAYBE 70 at the most even though I spend days on what I do-so I don't sell my stuff because it's worth more to me then to anyone else yet ^~^ thanks for opening my eyes!"

I understand now. ^~^ it was hard to before because I don't make plushies. At least not yet-though I want to get into them.
