Description Here is a peek at a wallpaper that I've been working on for a comic I do background artwork for. I'm doing the linework in two to three parts to get a better sense of depth.

Won't be finished for about a week or more so I thought I'd show what it looks like thus far.

Thank you! I actually have a whole folder on my computer machine of old world war photos of destroyed cities and buildings. I use some of them as a reference to make sure that my destroyed biuldings don't start looking the same as previous ones.

I actually used a picture of a street in SF for this pictures perspective. Some of the stuff in the picture is in this drawing too. I post it when this is all finished for you to see.

I just used the google machine the other day get some awesome photos of the devestation in Haiti.

You know how much I love your backgrounds. But this one is already amazing!

Thanks. I try to make them all as good as I can but time is always a factor when we update two pages a week.
At least we were. The comic will have to wait until deviant dead is over with. I think Amy wants to try and put a couple of pages up when she gets time but that might not happen until this contest is finished.

I went all out on this wallpaper because if its going be on your desktop, it'd better be good. At least that's my opinion. I'm thinking of making this picture into a poster if it's not too expensive.

I want to buy a Signed copy of it. So when it's finished we have to talk about how to go about doing it. Printing, signing, shipping, that kind of stuff.

As for the O31 Comic. Tell Amy to concentrate on 1 thing at a time. Remember what happens when she over does it. You had to sleep with one eye open.

I started a Group on DA for Sculptors because I couldn't find one. I've met a bunch of people already! You should consider starting a Group for Background Artists. I bet it would take off really well. It's a really cool way to meet people who do the same thing you do.

It should be up sometime next week. Probably more toward the end of next week,.... in the year 3000.

By then I'll probably be mostly robot like Vader. Hopefully there will be Wookies too.

Me too. Still so much to finish though. Good thing I have this all this hair. Couldn't have gone this far without it.

the level of detail you go into is ridiculous. i couldn't even imagine how long that must've taken. and that's just the first layer?

MAGGOTDETH In reply to Makazo [2010-01-28 15:46:43 +0000 UTC]

This is just the first layer of linework. All the shit in the picture thats colored is on a million different layers. So many damn layers. I didn't name any of them either so I have to keep clicking the little eye to see what disapears to know whats on that particular layer. Oh well. Next time I'll put a layer description.

This has taken so long do to so far.
I know it'll be worth it when it's finally done.

I remember seeing you work on this!

It's coming along AWESOME, glad I got to see it again; the different layers of line work should look great!

MAGGOTDETH In reply to Kayzig [2010-01-28 15:40:37 +0000 UTC]

I sure hope so. I've never tried to do multi layers of linework yet. My goal is to make each linework layer more slightly out of focus than the one in front.

Hopefully I can pull it off!
That's what she said!

Thanx

Honestly, if you know how to USE layers then you can probably pull that off. It's gonna look FANTASTIC!
