DO NOT STEALI really like how this came out. Near the middle I got confused on what else to add, but I guess the texture topped it all off. Also, I had to add a quick blob-like shadow. As, I started this acouple weeks ago, and had already merged down the layers and everything...So no way I could do a precise shadow. The only think I don't like is the mane and tail of the Appy. They seem just too messy for me.

I agree, the mane and tail on the appy are just fine! If I had any critique, it would be that maybe add some hoofprints in the sand? otherwise, beautiful

I usually look at a picture of footprints in the sand to sort of see the color shading, then try to mimic it in the shape I need (ie: horse hoof), it's tricky cause it's all about the light too, but it makes the image more realistic. you could always just fade a picture of footprinted sand and blend the backgrounds so that it looks like there's been a bunch of footprints and it won't matter if the horse ones are distinct.
Honestly though, the image is beautiful even without
