A bittersweet ending, but of the best kind.

As we all know what Ellie is capable of...this is probably the best option. As long as no one else forgets that this really was a sacrifice.
Congratulations on 100 deviations!

Precisely. Just because there was no way for you to defeat or defer the immature demigod doesn't mean appeasing her was the right thing to do, by nearly anyone. And besides...
Don't we all tire of our toys, eventually?

Oh, there was a fair few ways to get rid of the Harbingers over the years. The players just didn't take them; they liked their powers and gifts too much. But now it's too late. One of the gods (a former PC in fact) did take a stand and try to fight her when she was vulnerable. The players killed him.

Humans do, but the faey don't. They live their lives in the moment, caught up in their old legends and histories and emotions. Everyone and everything else gets pulled into this, becoming actors and toys in their great game. I think you put it best when you summed up that Ellie is stuck as a stupid kid forever, always experiencing the sugar-highs and crushing lows of adolescence.
If only she would tire of Pyrrha. The poor kid might find some peace. It's always Xmas Day with Ellie, with all the horror that entails.

Mm, probably best not to consider the other possibilities...

There were six possible options. The worst ones saw Ellie & Kitty-Py split up, which would have really hurt the players (who wants an angry, immature god-child mad at you?). If Ellie killed the suitors, Pyrrha becomes evil, which is fun for me, but less so for her family. If she refused the Helm, the nomads overrun most of the world.
So all said and done, this was the 'happy' ending. Though it's possible to be a bit sad for Pyrrha too.

True, that's as good a word as any.
I don't think Py really minds though. It's about as good an ending as they could get, all considered.

Yeah, bittersweet is still better than bitter.

That's true, and there is a twisted kind of sweetness here regardless.
