DIS foundation Mare "Mirage"Desert bred Arabian, proud, slightly skittish and wary of her surroundings this is one elegant lady and one of the two mares that we brought with us when we came to Darklight Valley. This means sheβs one of two horses in our stable that have been handled, trained and ridden. While nervous, sheβs extremely responsive and with the right rider a good competitor in jumping. Fast and quick on her feet.

yep, this is the last pic from the peculiar year of 2006. Once I'd finished with it I wasn't too happy...but it's grown on me. I liked the pose, but my reference was sooo highlighted it was insane...however I decided to give it a go anyway. think the tail's my favourite part....
also: the photo's slightly out of focus...yes, it is sharper in reality
Originally it wasn't intended to have a background, but I sort of got a bit carried away
kind of like now... I'm supposed to be viewing a possible new flat tomorrow and needless to say I'm a little...errr...nervous and can't sleep - instant cure perscribed by paramedics - DA the Wondercure

For my end, I'm trying desperately to choose between Aswad or Zafir :tearshair: for Empress. I've had my eye on Zafir ever since I saw the first painting of him in your gallery ages ago, but I really need more dressage inclined blood rather than otherwise. *sighs* I can't decide. Maybe you could just flip a coin for me and I'll do a breeding pic from there?

If you want the foals to have more AHA points, then Aswad.
Zafir's conformation is fine for dressage, he's just a bit hot-blodded. Aswad is his son though and is pretty talented, so I think genetically either choice should be good for dressage

In that case I think I'll go with Zafir. I don't much care about the AHA points - I draw too slow to accumulate them at any great rate - it took until last month or so before I got my first finest for Mirage, and I've had her since HARPG started

though if I hadn't had a reference for the pose there's no way it would have looked like that. Anatomy is always a struggle for me.

I love chestnuts, but I've always found it hard to get the tones and shine that comes with the color just right. Wonderful job on proportion and movement in the painting! I can almost feel the heat coming from the sun in the picture. Great job all around!

strange how it can be...any brown pelt combination I find much easier than the other colourations. I love white horses when painting, and I can't do them to save my life. Only time one's ever worked out was 'Lord of Ice'. *sighs* I guess we're pretty much in the smae boat then.
