This is wonderful! You achieved a really good range of values. I really enjoy the various lines here and it has a very abstract feel even though the viewer knows what the image is which I like. My only criticism is that I feel it would have been stronger had one of the designs taken up more of the picture plane rather than them both having equal space. Nonetheless, great photo

Thank you very much This film is great for bringing out a vast number of shades.
I'm glad to hear it's abstract, I was starting to have my doubts (as to the obviousness of the subject)! I can see what you mean, and I actually considered it before taking the photo! But I wasn't sure which tread I prefered at the time (and still don't as I'm quite indicisive ) so I just leveled them evenly. Thank you for such a thought out comment, I appreciate it a lot

Your welcome What kind of 35mm film did you shoot this with? If I'm ever indecisive of a framing issue I'll just take multiple shots so I can edit later

It was shot with Kodak Professional Black and White 400CN. I used to do that as well, but I'e calculated that it costs me about (depending on the film and whether it was on sale) $.50 cents a shot. I'm actually not employed at the moment, so funds are pretty tight! I am looking for a new place to have my film developed and scanned though.. as I have to deal with a lot of dust and scan lines. I've tried both the local places, so I may end up sending out which will cost me even more. I'm also concidering buying a scanner as it will probably save me time and money in the long run, but as I mentioned funds are tight. I'm kind of in a limbo, and the film is just piling up because we've had nice weather lately!

haha I know the feeling. Luckily my school has a nice darkroom set up where I can develop and print but scanning is an issue. I might see if I can sneak into some of the digilabs and use theirs because my scanner is really cheap. Good luck with sending them out, I'm sure they will turn out great.

i just got in, you just uploaded this one and
i think it is a really great shot,
first i thought i was looking at a fence covered by ice,
silly me, tires.....
great to see analoge film,
how did you transfer this to digit, scan the image or scan the negative, if i may ask

Thank you!
*phew* I was beginning to think the image was too obvious to be considered abstract.

All my images are actually film (since April of last year)! When I have my film developed I have them scan the negetives onto a disc for me (all I work with are the digital copies). I'm getting really tired of all the dust and scan lines I'm forced to deal with though. So I'm on the search for a new developer (again), and I'm considering buying a scanner.. thus, my newest images are just collecting in a pile but I have plenty of older images to post Thanks again

i get it, but finding a good scanner is a real pain, cos the good ones are very pricey,
some advice me to rent one and scan the whole day long cos the pro ones make better resolution,
but i think DiamonEyes can advice you on that one, cos he photographs on film too and own a scanner which he bought from his previous employer if i am not mistaken,

I want to support those who still do, but when they keep screwing me it's just not worth it. I've taken mine to the local ma&pa shop, but they tend to have more discrepensies on the film than Walgreens. and I'm not the type to go and complain to them, I don't know maybe I should.. I just would prefer finding a new shop. Walgreens has done some really amazing developing for me in the past, but I'm finding that it's just one specific worker there (they put their name on the package) who's producing the good stuff. I wonder if I could just request that one guy to develop for me lol. Sometimes I just want a digital camera!

There is nothing wrong with complaining, I have done it and as long as you are nice about it there shouldn't(in theory) be a problem. Find out when this guy works and ask him if HE will do all your photos, get his email address or contact info to keep track of his work schedule. I have been shooting digital for 8 years, I only used maybe 8-10 rolls of film. I just find digital ALOT better quality and easier for me to work with. Digital cameras use to cost and arm and a leg but now a days u can get them at a really decent price. I LOVE the fact that I can shoot and upload photos to my computer within minutes, it comes in handy when I shoot something I TOTALLY am head over heels in love with!

I don't like pointing out people's errors, unless it's in spelling and/or grammar lol, especially when it comes to their job. I should complain, but I probably won't unless I'm really mad that day and feeling fiesty. I think I will try to ask for him speifically. I wouldn't mind waiting till he comes in to work. I usually have it sitting there for a few days anyway, as I don't get into town all the time.
Oh yes! film cameras can be quite cheap, especially on Ebay. I bought a Pentax on there for like $25. I need to buy batteries and see how it works
That would be so nice to go upload photos literally minutes after shooting. I think it definitely depends on the cameras and lenses when considering digital vs. analog quality. I don't think anyone could disagree that digital is less hastle though!

I am a digital fan and ALL Canon lens are interchangeable regardless if they are brand new or 25 years old my aunt has a TON of them and I hope that 1 day I get them, thousands and thousands of dollars worth

I actually have a few Canon lenses that don't fit my Canon SLR. I even have a Canon adapter, but that doesn't seem to fit either. I'm sure others are available though.
That would be awesome! a majority of my lenses are hand-me-downs
