You swiped away a strand of your (h/l), (h/c) hair, long-fall boots clinking against the catwalk you were currently venturing down. A portal gun was in hand, Wheatley tucked firmly under your free arm. He had turned on the light implanted in his core, making sure you didn’t fall to your death. And ultimately his. However, as you were walking, you came across a rather long fall.

“Wheat, look down there.”

His light shone down to show where the catwalk had just suddenly fallen off.

“Oh, that’s dark, isn’t it? And a long fall. Probably not important. Not at all. The other end of the catwalk’s just over there. Must be something important on that side. But not down there. Nope.”

You didn’t listen. You never did. In fact, you held him against your side and simply jumped, hitting the bottom floor hard. It was dark and musty, the portion small and cramped by broken test chamber bits. You maneuvered around them, pulling back a panel to see a small door. Tugging on the handle, it seemed to be locked. Perfect. You set Wheatley by the floor, ignoring his protests.

“What are you doing? That door looks a bit strange. Could be turrets. Or neurotoxin. Better safe than sorry, right? Wait. Don’t. No-!”

You slammed your bodyweight against the metal door as hard you could, the thing falling into the room it contained. You picked up Wheatley and walked inside, staring in awe. A giant machine was inside, live wires dangling in the air. You tried to avoid them, the room dark and musty. However, you soon found a lever that was connected to the power. Flipping it, the lights came on with a light buzz. And the machine. It made a quiet whirring sound that your mind quickly became used to. Wheatley saw you staring at the thing, rather afraid as your legs started to move.

“Oh, that looks dangerous, (n/n). Wouldn’t want to touch it. Could crush you. Could explode. Could do anything, really. What is it supposed to do, actually?”

You smirked to yourself, his curiosity getting the better of both of you. You wiped some dust from what seemed to be a label, wiping it on your jumpsuit.

“Core Conversion Center. For all your test subject needs.”

Your eyes lit up in wonder, holding up Wheatley at eye level.

“Core Conversion Center, Wheat! Let’s see what it does!”

His protests and shouts never met your ears as you connected the wires to his back.

“(Y/n), this does not look fun! It’s scary! Get me out! Being a core is fine! Promise! A tiny little ball to carry around, it’s great!”

You ignored the little robot yet again, looking at the choices you had on the small, but cracked, screen.

“Coffee machine, blender, living organism… Hey! Wheatley, one option is Test Subject! I think it makes you human! Or at least have a human form. Want to give it a go?”

You looked up at where the core was in place, the bright blue light in him shining almost nervously.

“No! No, no! It’s fine. Really. Human. Gosh. A big step. Don’t think I’m ready for that. Better unplug me now.”

You just waved a dismissive hand, selected the human option.

“You’ll be fine. Maybe.”

You slammed your thumb against the large start button on the screen anyways, watching as the machine roared into life. It nearly drowned out Wheatley’s screams as he was hidden behind a bright light. Nearly. You had to shield your eyes a bit, turning away as the machine slowed to a stop after a moment. The light dimmed, the room going into a quiet state as it shut down. You stared at it, the glass inside grey and opaque now.

“Wheatley..?”

You were starting to think you had killed your only friend when the glass slowly cleared. And you were shocked. Wheatley stood there, eyes closed. That’s right. He stood there. Eyes closed. It was amazing. He was thin and pale under his orange jumpsuit and white t-shirt. He was certainly tall, though, his short blonde hair in every direction.

“Am I alive..? I am! Wait, why’s it so dark? I can’t see!”

You couldn’t help but laugh a bit, tracing him over with your (e/c) orbs.

“Wheatley, just open your eyes.”

He slowly did as he was told, looking prepared for the worst. Oh, his eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of blue you had ever seen, as bright as the light on the core he used to be. He looked around, blinking a few times before he slowly stepped from the machine. He stepped down to stand in front of you, your neck craning a bit to look at his face. God, he was tall. A good six foot, three, you thought.

“Wheat, you’re… You’re you.”

No other words popped into your mind. You were too amazed. The core you were always carrying or hooking to rails was standing in front of you. And he was adorable.

“That’s good, right? Me being me. That’s how it should work.”

You nodded a bit, watching as he stared at you from his new angle. You were so different. So small. Your (h/l), (h/c) hair was a bit messy, flyaway strands poking out. Your face was (s/c), your arms the same. You were thin from your lack of food for so long. And your legs. They were gorgeous. So were your eyes. Your arms. Your lips. Your chest. Your everything. He slowly reached out to place a finger on your cheek, trailing it to your collarbones. You let him explore, just happy that he was not, in fact, dead, but human. Well, in a sense. He still had the wires and whatnot on his back; they were poking through his shirt. He had to screw around with the controls at the facility one way or another. Wheatley slowly trailed his finger along your lips. They were chapped, but squishy. Like propulsion gel. You couldn’t help but giggle at his expression: pure amazement and awe.

“Wheatley, why don’t you explore your own body?”

His cheeks heated up in a blush, but he was far from noticing. He reached his hands up to his own face, feeling the frames of a pair of black glasses that rested on his nose. He was curious. Far too curious to ask any questions. However, he was less interested in himself than he was your lips. They were just so…fascinating. He reached out to touch them again, running his fingers along your bottom one. He felt himself getting closer to you without really meaning to. You watched in your own curiosity as he slightly leaned down to your height.

“You’re so short.”

You slight smile faltered, knowing he didn’t mean it in a bad way. You simply leaned up, placing your lips on his cheek.

“Not short. Vertically challenged.”

He had fallen still, the feeling of your lips on his face making his stomach churn.

“Can you…do that again?”

You stared at him for a moment, smile turning to an amused grin.

“Sure.”

This time, you dodged his cheek and went for his lips. Lighting pushing yours against his, Wheatley’s eyes widened. He watched as you shut your own, assuming he should do the same. Your hands came to his ruffled blonde hair, messing it up even more. His found your waist, slightly squishing you as you let your tongue run against his bottom lip. He seemed to understand and let you in, shyly brushing your tongue with his own. Oxygen became an issue, causing you both to pull away. Wheatley stared at you in amazement. That was brilliant. He lightly touched his slightly swollen lips, staring at your own.

“What was that..?”

You smiled warmly at his lack of knowledge, taking his hand in your own free one.

“That was a kiss. Because you’re adorable and I love you.”

Wheatley didn’t really understand whatever love was, but it felt nice. It made him warm inside when the three words rolled off your tongue.

“I love you too. I think.”

You just giggled a bit, holding his hand tightly as you pulled him along.
