Description Henry Limpet, played by the classic actor (and may his soul be happy in God's Heaven), Don Knotts, from "The Incredible Mr. Limpet."

For those of you don't know, it's a 1964 live-action/animated film (the same year when "Mary Poppins" released), done by Warner Bros Studio. The movie was about a man, Henry Limpet, who loves fish so much, while his wife, Betsy, can't stand it. But when he made a wish to be "a fish," he fell in the water and transformed into an animated fish. Now, with his super-whale sound, Limpet must help the US Navy to stop the Nazi u-boats.

Also, here's the interview clip of Don Knotts:

I really love this film. I began to watch this film when I was 13 for the first time. The animation makes me fall in love with this film, and the character design of the fish inspires me to draw (which is why I drew fish characters since I was 13). I understand that the film wasn't a hit, but later on it became a classic favorite film to most audience. Just to remind you that the animation sequence involve the animator who worked at Disney, Bill Tytla, and others who did Looney Tunes.

Don Knotts (God bless his soul) did a really fantastic job in this film, which it was actually his very first role in motion-picture film, after he was well-known in "The Andy Griffith Show." Not only his first role in the feature film, but it was his first time to voice a character.

In this pic, just to remind you that this was a first time to use gouache paint (my X-Mas gift from my uncle). I know, should've practiced more in college, but I wanted to use different media than just using watercolor pencils. Meh, I don't think I'm happy with the black-outline; it might cause line-weight, which I don't like. XD Luckily I used Photoshop to edit it.

Enjoy.

*PS: This drawing was based off the scene where Limpet-Fish said "Hi" to the group of fish as a reference, just to remind you.

I saw 107 facts about the Little Mermaid and in it I heard he made a cameo in that movie and it's animatronic ride. When I found that out it suddenly struck me that these movies have a yin/yang style of counterpart differences between them. Ariel is a sea creature obsessed with the surface with it's humans and human inventions. she keeps a collection of human and surface things. She has her wish granted to become human and live on the surface where she learns how to walk with legs. She finds love and lives happily ever after. Mr limpet is a man living on the surface who is obsessed with the ocean and sea life. He has a collection of fish. He has his wish granted to become a sea creature and live under the sea where he learns to swim with a tail. He finds love and lives happily ever after. Things they have in common include fighting bad guys who want to control the sea with some help with their bossy crab friend. No wonder why he was there during Under The Sea. It's probably his favorite song ever.

Well, the Little Mermaid was actually based on the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson, while "Mr. Limpet" was based on the novel (which I never read, but heard of it) by Theodore Pratt.Β www.lwcurrey.com/pictures/medi…

I just recently saw this movie for the first time and absolutely loved it ^^ I was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up over the years... Thought it was cute, funny & overall a job well done. I don't think anyone other than Don Knotts could have made a better Mr. Limpet.

Nice work here as well ^^
