Be prepared for a lot of mistakes! When I write: elles peuvent se suffire d'une bonne photo", I mean that they belong to the modern landscape of the XXIst century, so the picture is the right way to represent them. It's not pejorative! There's a lot of wonderful pictures. But I can't help thinking that the "old fashioned" scenes, the nature , deserve a painting work, something "noble".
I wonder if you'll understand what I try to mean. It's evident that, nowadays, we have so many ways to reach the artistic expression! using a camera seems (sic) easy. Hard to explain! ( I'm tired to say that my language is French, my English bad enough)
Your winter landscapes are exceptional ( my own point of view!), and I can catch the look of the artist, his feeling in front of this nature. The eye of the camera is the same for every one! Do you think that I'm wrong? May be, a car deserves a brush.......
I'm pleased to know that you are English! A few weeks ago, I was trying to explain to J.Merrow Smith (1) that I was discovering the "New English Painting" after Sisley and
Richard Parkes Bonington. He replied that I had a lot of discoveries to do! Entering Deviant Art and finding out such painters like you is really a - free - pleasure!
1) I connected him for he's living in Provence, at the right place where I was born....Long ago! I have bought his book "Poscard from Provence".

Thanks for your explanation Michèle. Votre anglais est mille fois mieux que mon français! I understand what you mean about the noble subject, but I try to find "paintable" scenes wherever I am. To me, almost anything has the potential for being noble. I'm inspired and influenced by Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven and I think they painted what was around them at the time - natural or urban. I try to do the same thing.
My opinion is that photography is a different medium, but still art. I have a friend that takes wonderful photographs and takes great care over each one - there is definitely an artist's touch to his work. You can see his work here beautysurroundsyou.com/
Thank you for your kind comments!

Ok. You are probably right. But I'm sure of that: I would have not gazed the same look upon your landscapes, if you hadn't spent so many hours to watch them, to internalize them, to paint them. Making photos is another thing. Another art, yes.
Have you definitively left the British isles for the Canada?

Yes I'm Canadian now, but I go back every now and then to see family.
