Description Pavilion of Wings

Great Southern White

More than 40 different butterfly and moth species and an array of plants take up residence every summer in the Pavillion of Wings at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. This is an unique ever changing and growing ecosystem.
Visitors will witness wondrous free-flying creatures interacting with plant life and with each other and emerge with a better understanding of the environment needed for the survival of these spectacular animals.

Great shot! The creamy hue is wonderful.
I notice that the tips of its antennae are green. Pretty.

I may have to try that place. The butterflies I get here do not like to pose. I like the clarity of your shots, do you use a tripod?

No Walt,

All Shots were hand held, iso 1600 or 3200. most shots taken with a 100mm 2.8 canon macro lens. All shot went through nik define 2.0 to reduce the luminance and color noise. They come out squeaky clean. The pavilion is open through august.bring one flash unit.

Ya gotta love the new cameras. I keep my Nikon on 1600 and do not see a reason to change it. I have a D700, it's worlds better than the D300.
