Nice OC! I like how you gave the skeleton a font name like you're SUPPOSE to do. Other people don't and it drives me insane. I actually made an AU called Fonttale that revolves around skeletons like Fixedsys having a special ability based on their font! Apparently there was another species other than Monster and Humans called Fonts. They were ganged up on for fear of their power and almost completely wiped out. Whenever a human dies and their skeleton collects enough magic, a Font will be born and their name will depend on the human's personality in life or the way that they died.
There are two attributes of Fonts, Horror and Normal. Horror Fonts like Feast of Flesh are naturally creepy and use fear to paralyze and eat humans. Normal Fonts like Fixedsys feed off the magic in the air or in the foods in the Underground.
There are all kinds of types too, but I can't tell what type Fixedsys is based on his name. There are seven so far I believe, I'll list them and you can tell me which one Fixedsys is.
Physical-Physical Fonts specialize in regeneration and anything that requires physical activity. Their fonts are usually used in a way that causes physical harm to their victims. Most are either hunters or fighters, and what they lack in magical ability they make up for in strength, speed, and/or stamina. They are widely feared due to the fact that most feral Fonts have their type and like every other Font, Physicals must use their ability every once in awhile regardless of whether or not they want to.
Verbal-Fonts who prefer to use their words instead of their fists. Verbal Fonts specialize in mind manipulation using the power of Hypnotic Suggestion, usually through verbal means and illusions. They attack one or more of the victim's five senses and/or their Limbic System, altering their perspective of the world and thoughts on certain matters. Verbal Fonts are often highly intelligent and have the power to see through illusions of others. They can be difficult to manipulate and are known for their discipline mental or otherwise.
Terminal-Terminal Fonts are skeletons with a short life-expectancy. Some fonts like No Fear will put themselves in danger either on purpose or on accident due to their nature. No Fear as their name implies, fears nothing, so they'll take unnecessary risks on a regular basis. I doubt Fixedsys is in this group but I'll put it here anyway.
Legendary-Legendary Fonts are classified as Fonts who are difficult to destroy; certain/special requirements must be met in order to completely exterminate them. If the requirements are not met, the Font will either not be destroyed or they will resurface. (Fonts like Zombified need to be shot in the head for example or they won't stay down)
Ghost-This Font specializes in shape shifting and passing through walls undetected. Out of every type of Font discovered, Ghost Fonts are the least intelligent to date, acting more like insects and fish rather than feral animals. They are also the only type of Font to date that does NOT consume magic or eat human beings or creatures of any kind. Instead they feed off heat, searching houses for warmth in order to keep their ectoplasm from causing them to freeze to death. Ghost type Fonts have a special ectoplasm that covers the outside of their bones and has such a low opacity that most humans cannot see them. Their bones are affected as well making them lighter than feathers and just as transparent. These Fonts are so light, they actually float above the ground. The downside is that this ectoplasm needs constant heat; without it, the skeleton will freeze to death due to not having any ectoplasm within them to stay warm. These Fonts have a habit of finding a house where a dead creature once died and shape shifting into that creature, it is assumed that they do this in the belief that it fools the new owners of the house into thinking that they are living creatures who already reside there. Some however don't even turn into dead humans or monsters, they instead turn themselves into dead pets such as cats or dogs. Some Ghost Fonts although they shift their forms to blend in, tend to throw objects around the room or posses them. Some even attempt to speak or shriek implying that they may be trying to change their font somehow; there is no proof of that however.
Dimensional-One of the most feared types of Fonts in the world, Dimensional Fonts specialize in defying the laws of physics and reality, temporarily warping it to their advantage in order to catch prey or protect themselves. As the name implies, they live in dimensions aka timelines, separate from our own and thus cannot usually be attacked or caught by physical means. They can appear in drawings, paintings, computers, phones, books, and even from thin air itself although rare and pull their victims into the world in which they live, usually never to be seen again. At one time these Fonts were travelers, entering different dimensions and acting much like Mimic Fonts, but due to the human population increase and the decrease in the amount of Horror Fonts still alive today, they have become Ambush Predators. They now prefer to pick a certain area and live within it for as long as possible, waiting for their victims to wander into their territory like Venus Flytraps. The methods used for capture vary and so far only a few are known. Jumpers may wait until they feel their prey is near and as their name implies, jump out and startle them, pulling their victim into their territory before they even realize what happened. Noisy Dimensional Fonts will often attempt to fool people into believing someone in their territory needs help, the victim that hears the false cry will often walk into the clever trap in an attempt to offer assistance, only to find that no one is present in the area and they are now unable to leave. Lures will often morph an item their territory to show something they think would draw a victim's attention, a lamp may turn into a cake for example, when the prey enters they become trapped. There have been reports of people reaching out to wipe something of a friend's shirt only to be pulled into a Dimensional Font's territory and even more reports of people reaching out to erase a smudge on their paper and being dragged in. Once inside the territory the victim will be starved, dehydrated, or driven to madness and suicide. They are the most cowardly of the Font types and it is rare for them to engage in a fight, or even show their face without reluctance, therefore they rely on time. As more and more Dimensional Fonts are born in an area, the food becomes scarce. There have been instances of Dimensional Fonts working with the Capture Facility to ensure that the population doesn't decrease too rapidly by ensnaring dangerous skeletons. It is not recommended however, that they be conversed with through verbal or nonverbal means as not every Dimensional Font is friendly towards people. One Font in particular caused so much destruction they were the first Dimensional Font to ever make it onto the FMWL. (Error Sans?) Studies in new technology have allowed the Capture Facility to create a signal that will only activate in the newest version of the FontSearch while in a strange area aka a Dimensional Font's territory. Once the signal is activated either a Virus or Dimensional Font currently working for the CF or a trained professional will assist the captured victim depending on the danger involved. Thanks to the efforts on the Font's part, many deadly Fonts have been captured safely and without incident. Unfortunately, they also often cause damage to electrical equipment, but a Virus Font is usually the best solution to the problem as they can change the dimension of an object, cutting off a Dimensional Font's place of entry.
Virus- These extremely dangerous Fonts specialize in changing a person, place, or thing in a way that fits their font through physical contact or magic attacks. They do this in order to feel more at home in their environment, confuse their victims, and/or render their victims powerless. In the 1980's a Virus Font by the name of American Typewriter changed most of New York into a city of noir through touch. Buildings, people, and even animals lost their color and the attitudes of the New York citizens changed drastically. Most of New York spoke in 1920's slang and lived in a city of black and white until three years later when American Typewriter was captured and put down. This is just an example of how dangerous this type of Font is. One Font is still on the run today for turning people and the world around them into colorful 90's memes. (Fresh Sans?) Victims of Virus Fonts have had not only their appearance changed, but their personality as well and unfortunately a parasitic virus can make the changes permanent. Virus Fonts are the only type of Fonts who can use their abilities on other skeletons and some are parasitic by nature meaning they prefer to infect Fonts, using them as mobile homes. This can be catastrophic due to the fact that the brain washed host can still use their OWN font, meaning a Virus Font can have two types, attributes, etc. A parasitic Virus Font can usually be spotted by their behavior. Most Virus Fonts act out stereotypes, talking and dressing strangely. Luckily not all Virus Fonts are parasitic. Some use an airborne virus that wears off once the victim is far away from them.
Welp, that's all the Font types in Fonttale so far. At least in my fanfiction on AO3. If you want to check it out here's a link, though my second story is the one that really goes into depth about the species and it's not done yet. archiveofourown.org/works/7482…
