I extracted my version of the curve directly from the "2" glyph of Reith Sans Light.

Definitely a well-designed ident idea. The lightning effect in shape of the 2 curve fits pretty well.

I traced the curve, gave it a glow, drew some lines branching around it and set the opacity really low, then used the "Dents" distortion effect in Paint.NET, and added a few brush spots on the line.
Oh, Blur was used as well.
