Useful things I've learned:
1. Don't compare yourself to others artists. Yes, let their work inspire and motivate you, but don't kick yourself for not being on their level. Art times time and lots of evolving! Don't turn your hobby into a stress factory.

2. Make mistakes. Experiment with your work (try different techniques, styles, brushes, programs, everything.) The more you branch out, the more you can improve and find different techniques that work best for you.

3. Study anatomy. Look at photos, watch videos, let your eyes get used to seeing things how they are, and it will make drawing much, much easier. When you know where things go, you spend less time guessing and getting frustrated.

4. Clean up sketches! Put a lot of work into the structure of your drawing, so when you go into lining, coloring, and shading, you know where things need to go. Putting down experimental colors as you draw can help to, especially if you want to create a certain mood. I tend to have a layer under my sketch to test colors and whatnot to make sure everything is working out how I want.
