I don't think I am able to justify the color just yet though. It still seems like the color was just added on to a black and white drawing. I need to work on the integration some more before I will know what I am doing.

yeah. i usually draw black and white. it's pretty hard to find a good mix of color and black and white, cause it really varies style by style. but i think yours turned out rather well and the fact that they connect adds to that.
