Description
“More than kisses, letters mingle souls.” ~ John Donne
Today, our letters are read through a lighted screen and our 'writing' is made by tapping our fingers on tiny little square tiles with an alphabet on them. That is why I am ever more fascinated by real letters, written with a pen on paper … especially those from a long time ago. What it must have felt to wait weeks, months and sometimes years, just to receive word from a love one. How cherished these letters would have been. It is like holding his heart in your hands.
The focal of this pair of mixed media earrings is the resin-ed miniature reprints of an old letter. One side is the body of this letter, and the other is the signature of the writer. Other components include brass wires, various findings and a pair of striated blue Picasso Jasper beads.
* the earrings are 3.75 inches in length including earwires, 1.5 inches across
* the earwires are 20g brass wires augmented by fire.
