Well, strictly speaking, I think Rogue Trader was the first Warhammer 40k type thing. It was the first thing to do Warhammer IN SPACE!

And yes there is a tabletop game, its expensive as all hell and the rules are kinda weird at times, looking at you daemon army of Tzeentch.
