There's a bit of attention needed where the first branches open out from the trunk I think - sky cutting into the ground?!

The line of the horizon is broken between that first split in the trunk. (hmmm can't think how to explain it much better!!!) Between those branches the sky cut's in below the horizon .... =S ... am I making sense?!!

I see, take a closer look, there's snow on the tree at that first split, that's why you can't see the horizon.
Hard to see it at that low resolution, i had to take a look at the original myself.
