Description
So several things1.) I saw a picture of this animal and just had to draw it in anthro form somehow omg (if you can guess which animal it is I'll give you a cookie :3)
2.) I decided to try a different sort of style, subtractive shading, so I made a dark base and put on the highlights
3.) I also used a different brush and blending technique for all of this
4.) Listening to ska made me decide of this background for some reason XD
but yeah... I like it o w o I'd like to do commissions like this style so badly hng
...also sorry for messy PNG D: it's not completely clean as you can see the stuff at the bottom but oh well >.>' *hoping no one will notice*

I love the shading technique you used. Looks so painted and stuff. It's really nice!
(I wanna give subtractive shading a try someday. So far I've been doing a type of hybrid between subtractive and additive shading.)
And the spots and stripes... Argh, they're awesome!! Also noticed how nice and flowing her hair is.

yay I love flowy hair! and thank you so much > u < yeah it WAS subtraction at first then I had to add a tiny bit more dark to it but all and all it was pretty much subtractive

Can't imagine one would easily do it using 100% subtractive anyways, always a little something that can be made better with a little additive.

Assuming "the adorable animal" doesn't count, my guess would be she's a civet of some kind? Possibly a banded palm civet?
At any rate, love this style a lot! Not sure if it's just her color scheme, but the colors feel really rich and the shadows really stand out nicely to give a good balance between light and dark. As for the character, I love her pose; very carefree and playful... a bit of an impression of a dreamer (especially with the legs/feet floating around in the air with the tail). That, and I love her color scheme as well as how the background supports her colors. (Yay ska! Apparently it's just as good of a genera as it is a background.) Just an opinion, but I think you should do more in this style.

Bah, so close... at least I was right on the civet part. ^_^ Some of them do have longer faces, but to be honest I think the rat face is way cuter. :3 (Especially with the pink nose XD) Well, that's the thing with ska, is that it focuses on the off beats, so if you're focusing on the rhythm and chords it can get samey really quick. However, the bass lines tend to be fairly unique, so there's that. <3 (Also, trumpets/horns assuming ska punk) Yes, her feet are adorable. X3 They're like the kind you want to grasp with your thumb and index finger and wiggle around... favorite thing to do with pets when they're lounging around, though dogs tend to tolerate such shenanigans better than cats. o_o'

ahaha, I actually was just messing with both of my cat's paws >w< They're super sweet and derpy and tolerate everything hehe, and yeah ska punk mixed with more of the jazzier slow kind (idk what that kind is called o .o; just the more instrumental chill part that's like half reggae) her feets are so cute, makes me wanna like draw a picture of her standing up on them hehe x3 (ideas ouo...but after I finish this commission I'm working on x.x')

XD I'm super envious now; you apparently have the best cats in the world. Ah, okay... so something like first wave ska then? That's more R&B/jazzy/calypso styled, and reggae finds its roots from that wave. (I am music nerd ^_^') Haha, hopefully the commission work goes well; I know you'll do well with it!

Yeah, the wave refers to both the style/blend of the music and the era the it first emerged. Third wave refers to the global emergence of ska in the 1980's. It primarily blended Jamaican ska with punk and rock, though some nations had their own spins on the genera (i.e. Japan had J-ska which blended Jamaican ska with jazz and rock). Yayayayay for commission progress!
