Serious - Years of servitude in the German and Japanese military, and a more recent profession as a bodyguard, has instilled with him a lifestyle and thought process that further alienates him from the social world.
Devoted - This man practically lives and breathes his job. Those he lets in close to him would benefit from his loyalty.

H I S T O R Y.
Raised in a ragtag orphanage near Berlin, Germany, Ralf joined the service immediately after finishing high school. After serving 4 years and rising fast up the ranks in the German military, he was offered an opportunity to serve in the Japanese secret service, which he accepted. Two years later, he was recruited by the CEO of a Japanese security company under the Tatsuo Conglomerate, assigned as part of a private bodyguard team to the Head family. It was there in that position where he first met the young, ambitious Yuichi Tatsuo and his childhood friend Miwa Akuten. Both eventually became wards under his team's protection until he was solely employed by Yuichi when the boy grew old enough to take over the company.

Moving to Kirimori with Yuichi when the young CEO established a branch in that City, Ralf initially treated the move as a typical business strategy. However, with the onslaught of supernatural occurrences and dangerous, fatal events, he has since then resigned from Yuichi's service, employing himself for a brief period of time at Higashimori High school, before applying for the ORS division in the Kirimori Police.

T R I V I A.
While his military accomplishments and CV are known, the reason why he was recruited and ultimately left Germany is a mystery.
He's a very light sleeper.
A certain incident involving a young civilian woman led him to realize the existence of 'Shadows.' He is an Aware.
