Been wanting to redesign Peter Pan characters to my liking.

Now I, like every girl of a certain age, grew up adoring Disney's Tinkerbell. I own Tinkerbell figurines, I have Tinkerbell underwear (which, by the by, are some of THE most comfortable undies I own). But let's face facts: Tinkerbell is a straight up bitch. She's jealous, possessive, cruel, murderous, and wants to pork little boys. She's just out of control. I hate that bitch. I mean, I LOVE hating her, but she's a fucked up slag. There's no two ways about it.

And why is Tinkerbell so angry? She's angry and cruel because of Peter. Peter whom she cannot have, whom no one can have, but who she wants wants wants wants. She can't have him but she'll be damned if someone else takes him from her. And Wendy could do that, because Wendy is a Real Girl, a Sweet Girl. Tinkerbell isn't even human. She's a flight of fancy. She's all ire and lust and jealousy and no one's mother at all. She isn't capable of "sharing" or resignedly taking less than she wants or deserves so that someone else can be happy. She's no one's martyr. Tinkerbell isn't evil, and does even show moments of conscience, however small or belated. She hates Wendy because Peter could in some way love Wendy, maybe, possibly, even though he can't and won't. Tinkerbell knows she is bested, but she'll spit and fight before she goes down, and oh, she'll take that damn Real Girl down with her if she can.

And even though Wendy is my girl, and the one I relate to, the one who breaks my heart, I identify with Tinkerbell as well. Selfish, and desperate, pretty to look at but to no end, and so completely dependent on another for an identity that she'll sacrifice any personal goodness just on the off chance that he'll look at her a little longer. That sad, dirty fairy.

I wanted my Tink to look like a woman, and maybe a woman that would have sex, and maybe one who has had lots of it (crazy fairy orgies are in fact alluded to in the Barrie texts). I also wanted to make her look more like an animal, because she really doesn't have very much humanity at all. And she's green green green for obvious reasons. Oh Tinkerbell, so spitting mad!
