Random question~ Do you prefer a poseable plush or an (unposeable?) plush? I'm getting a red fox soft mount and I've been wondering which I should do.

I love the differen't poses you can do with poseable plushes, as it's really helpful for photography, but at the same time I like the "floppy-ness" of an unposeable one too, lol. They're a lot nicer when carrying around or having laying on your bed.
So I can't really tell you which is better... I guess it just depends on your personal preference or what you plan on doing with it. Poseable plushes do go through a lot of wear and tear though if you continue to pose it differently. The wires (or whatever else the taxidermist uses) rubbing against the leather all the time is obviously going to have a toll on the pelt in the long run, and soft mounting an animal is already decreasing it's "life span" as it is, due to all of the air that can reach the leather, unlike traditional.

This is what my dog, Blossom, will do. She rolls around in the grass being all derpy. And I am SO jealous of your pelts!

That's why I love taxidermy - makes them look so lifelike and beautiful. If he wasn't taxidermied he would look more like a rotting mass of flesh. ><
...and sorry, you can't have dem D:

I don't know.. a lot of it is just misunderstandings. Once talked to someone who thought that the organs and such were still inside the mount and that they were just preserved somehow, like freeze-drying I guess, which does happen, but it's not always the case. After I told them there was nothing but leather, glass eyes, and a foam form they weren't so disgusted, but they still didn't really approve of it.
And if you ever do decide to buy a fox pelt I'd recommend Glacierwear.com or Hideandfur.com.. both have pretty reasonable prices and glacierwear ships incredibly fast. Once it took only two days to get a pelt from them. Both humane and US based too.
